The Baby-Sitters Club, Netflix's comedy-drama based on the bestselling novels by Ann M. Martin, has reportedly been canceled after two seasons. The dramedy is one of the best-reviewed shows on television, with a perfect Rotten Tomato score.

Both of the seasons of the show scored a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, the series did not manage to gain much popularity or attract a wide audience. The show's season 2, which was released on October 11, 2021, failed to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 weekly streaming rankings. Moreover, it appeared in the Netflix Top 10 for just a week, and that too at Number 9.

Rachel Shukert, creator and showrunner of The Baby-Sitters Club, reportedly said:

"I have wanted to be a part of the world Ann M. Martin created since I was seven years old, and for two amazing seasons I actually got to be. It was a dream come true. Although I am heartbroken not to be returning to Stoneybrook for 20 more seasons, I am so proud of the incredible show our amazing cast and crew created and the way it brought joy and comfort to so many when they needed it most.

In the same statement, she thanked Walden Media Netflix for providing the opportunity to bring to television Kristy, Claudia, Stacey, Mary Anne, Dawn, Jessi, and Mallory to introduce them to a new generation of fans.

Frank Smith, the CEO of Walden Media, also commented on the cancelation:

“We are incredibly grateful for Netflix’s vision and support in bringing the world of The Baby-Sitters Club to life. Though we are saddened the series has come to an end, we look forward to future opportunities to share the legacy of Ann M Martin’s beloved work with new audiences.”

What is The Baby-Sitters Club all about?

This Netflix dramedy follows the friendship and adventures of seven friends who decide to start their own babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

With growing demand for the services of the club, founders Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer have now been motivated to welcome new members Mallory Pike and Jessi Ramsey to their ranks.

The new school year brings them not only a booming business but also new relationships, personal journeys and important lessons. The Baby-Sitters Club is ultimately a story of sisterhood and blossoming friendships.

The show stars Sophie Grace, Malia Baker, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, Kyndra Sanchez, Vivian Watson, and Anais Lee.

Though the third season of The Baby-Sitters Club has been canceled, the first two seasons are available on Netflix.
