Charlie Kirk's final Instagram post before his death referenced Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed on a train in Charlotte

Charlie Kirk's last Instagram post before his demise was on the murder of Iryna Zarutska. Hours after the post, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Kirk was assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University. He was reportedly addressing a crowd of 3000 when he was shot in the neck. The manhunt for his killer is underway at the time of writing.

23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was allegedly murdered on a light rail commuter train by Decarlos Brown Jr. on August 22, 2025. The Charlotte Area Transit System shared the viral footage of Zarutska and Decarlos.

It shows the woman's final moments inside a train before Decarlos Brown Jr. took out his folding knife to stab her. Thereafter, the man is seen wandering around the train compartments before calmly removing his hoodie.

Hours before his death, Charlie Kirk took to Instagram to share his X post about Iryna Zarutska. Posting a photo of the New York Times article about the woman, he wrote:

"Will Democrats and their liberal media allies ever be more upset that an innocent person was murdered than they are that conservatives noticed an innocent person was murdered?"

Kirk also posted a snapshot of Iryna Zarutska from the train footage with the caption:

"America will never be the same."

As per the Independent, Zarutska was pronounced dead at the spot, and the suspect got off the train at the next stop. The latter was arrested on August 28 on charges of first-degree murder.

Decarlos Brown Jr.'s sister claims this is why he attacked and killed Iryna Zarutska

Decarlos Brown Jr.'s sister, Tracey Brown, revealed that the former was schizophrenic in a recent interview with The New York Post. Speaking about why she believed Iryna Zarutska was attacked, Tracey said:

“When I saw the video, I automatically knew he - and I hate to say it because she didn’t deserve it - but he had come to some breaking point."

She continued:

“I just tried to wrap my mind around. Why would he do this? Like, this is not him. And the only thing that I could think of is he just… broke. He couldn’t take it anymore.”

According to Tracey, her brother claimed that "the material inside his body" had forced him to kill Iryna.

“When I went to visit him (in jail), he was mumbling and talking to himself. And I said, ‘Well, what’s on your mind?’ He looked at me and he was like, ‘I have to get you to.’ And I said, ‘What do you mean you have to get me?’ He said, ‘You and mama. Y’all are being trafficked.’ And I said, ‘Well, how are we being trafficked?’ And he said, ‘The government is trafficking y’all to get to me.',” she continued.

Thereafter, Tracey recalled asking her brother why he allegedly chose to stab Iryna Zarutska of all people.

“They just lashed out on her, that’s what happened. Whoever was working the materials, they lashed out on her. That’s all there is to it. Now they really gotta investigate what my body was exposed to … Now they gotta do an investigation as to who was the motive behind what happened," replied Decarlos Brown Jr.
