Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, has shared many posts remembering the political activist since his death. Turning Point USA's founder was fatally shot during an event at a university in Utah on September 10.
On September 26, Kolvet shared a post on X reflecting on the hardships Kirk faced during his formative years. He noted that the political commentator did not get paid for the first five years. Kolvet also revealed the "first salary" of the late activist.
"Charlie didn't get a pay check for the first 5 years. He slept on couches. He traveled 330 days a year. His first salary was $20k and that was a huge achievement. Eventually he donated his entire salary (and then some) back to TPUSA. Total legend," he added.
Following Kirk's death, Kolvet continued The Charlie Kirk Show and invited several conservative personalities on the podcast, like Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles, and Megyn Kelly, among others. Andrew Kolvet co-hosted the recent episode of The Charlie Kirk Show with Erika Kirk, who was recently chosen as the new CEO of Turning Point USA.
Andrew Kolvet highlighted Charlie Kirk’s dedication to the podcast at his memorial service
During the memorial of TPUSA's founder, which took place on September 21, Kolvet took to the stage and paid his tribute to the late right-wing activist. He introduced the team members of The Charlie Kirk Show after introducing himself as a "longtime friend of Charlie."
The executive producer of the show recounted how he and Kirk built the radio show "brick by brick" over eight years. Kolvet said he was "proud" of what they built together. He noted that the show was Kirk's "constant" despite his busy schedule.
"It's remarkable that in the midst of everything else Charlie had going on in his life, fundraising, traveling, speaking, running two organizations, that he even had time to fit in a daily radio show and podcast. But I'll tell you something, that show became the favorite part of Charlie's daily routine. It was his one constant amid never-ending change," Kolvet said.
Andrew Kolvet shared that Kirk continued hosting shows even while traveling abroad or attending conferences because he "loved" his audience. The TPUSA spokesperson noted that Charlie Kirk made a habit of going through all emails sent with suggestions. During his speech, Kolvet said that it had been "excruciating" to continue the podcast after the political commentator's death.
"It's been excruciating to do this show the last week, but we knew it's exactly what Charlie would have wanted. And I want to thank you, the audience. You've helped us work through our grief and our broken hearts live on camera streaming everywhere," the executive producer said.
Charlie Kirk was killed on September 10, and a suspect named Tyler Robinson was arrested a day after the killing. Although the alleged shooter did not plead guilty, authorities presented evidence against him, including his chats with his roommate. Robinson, indicted with seven charges, appeared in court on September 16.
Meanwhile, TPUSA's board chose the founder's wife, Erika Kirk, as the new CEO of the organization. She would be joining Megyn Kelly on her tour in November.
