Popular media personality Glenn Beck has compared Charlie Kirk to Martin Luther King Jr, while advocating for streets to be named after the deceased Conservative activist. Kirk was shot dead with a single bullet during an open-air event at Utah Valley University last week.
Speaking on his BlazeTV show this week, Glenn Beck compared Charlie Kirk to a civil rights leader and not a political leader. He then compared the activist to Martin Luther King Jr, and said:
"We must stop calling Charlie anything other than a civil rights leader. We need to plant that stake deep. Make no mistake: Charlie Kirk was a civil rights leader as much as Martin Luther King. I’m waiting to see the first city that will make a Charlie Kirk Boulevard. There’s a Martin Luther King Boulevard, there should be a Charlie Kirk Boulevard."
Beck specifically mentioned Phoenix should name a road after the deceased activist, as it is where Kirk's organization Turning Point USA Headquarters are located. Further, he mentioned that many of the recent "so-called civil rights leaders" and "jokers" or "money hustlers." He claimed that Kirk should be considered a "martyr" for civil rights.
"Kirk died standing up and trying to show people how to exercise your civil rights in a civilized manner. And they gunned him down because of it," he said.
Kirk was well-known for his conservative views on politics, and being a staunch supporter of the MAGA movement led by President Donald Trump. The US President publicly confirmed that he would attend Kirk's funeral in Arizona, while Vice President JD Vance also shared his condolences and carried his remains back to his hometown.
Charlie Kirk's wife Erika addresses nation following husband's assassination

On September 12, Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk, addressed the nation following her husband's assassination. The conservative activist was shot dead with a single bullet while he was answering questions at an open-air event at Utah Valley University. It was organized by Turning Point USA, an organization founded by Kirk himself.
Erika's address to the nation was also shared through her official Instagram account, where she spoke publicly for the first time since Kirk's death.
"You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry. To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won't, I refuse to let that happen. All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband's name, and I will make sure of it," she said.
Erika Kirk also referred to Charlie Kirk's love for President Donald Trump in her address to the nation. Kirk was an active participant in the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement and a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump. He openly advocated for the president during the 2024 Presidential elections.
"Mr. President, my husband loved you, and he knew that you loved him, too. He did. Your friendship was amazing. You supported him so well, as did he for you," Erika said.
Shortly after Kirk's murder, Trump confirmed that he would be attending the conservative activist's funeral during an interview with CNN on the White House lawns. He also mentioned he had spoken personally to Erika and called Kirk a great man.
The FBI has arrested a 22-year-old Utah native, Tyler Robinson, as a person of interest in Kirk's shooting. Robinson has not yet confessed to committing the crime.
Charlie Kirk's funeral will be held on Sunday, September 21, at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where the activist lived with his wife and two children. He shared two children with Erika - a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
