Journalist Megyn Kelly recently criticized Michelle and Barack Obama's marriage, stating they "married the wrong people." On the latest episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the political commentator referenced comments the former first lady made about her husband in her own podcast, IMO.

In the premiere episode, Michelle and her brother Craig Robinson discussed Barack Obama's issues with tardiness, which she noted had improved over the years. In the April 15 episode, she spoke about the ups and downs of a relationship, even suggesting having a "bad decade" with him.

Calling out the former first lady, Megyn Kellywho has been married twice—remarked:

"I’ve been married for 17 and a half years, and not one was bad."

The journalist was referring to her second marriage, to author and podcast host Douglas Brunt. She was previously married to anesthesiologist Daniel Kendall, whom she divorced in 2006. Notably, in a 2015 interview with the Daily Mail, Kendall explained that their relationship didn't work out because they wanted partners who would support them, stating:

"Every word she says about Barack Obama is negative" — Megyn Kelly on Michelle Obama

In the latest episode of IMO, Michelle Obama reflected on the "ebbs and flows" of marriage and relationships. Noting that it might sound "harsh," she explained to people that there would be bad days, even decades. She elaborated that one "signed up for" such days, stating:

"I’ve been married to my husband for 30 plus years… If the odds were you’re going to be married to your partner for 50 years and 10 of those years could be bad, you’d sign up for it. You know, and that’s really how it works out."

Talking to the Daily Mail's Maureen Callahan, Megyn Kelly seemed to disagree with the remarks, stating that Michelle and Barack Obama "married the wrong people." Callahan, agreeing with the host, questioned why the former first lady was constantly berating those around her, prompting Kelly to respond:

Callahan noted that by talking negatively about her partner, she reflected poorly on herself. She claimed that the "root" of the former first lady's "rage" was that Barack Obama was a "natural star," suggesting she was envious of her partner. Kelly added that people wouldn't have recognized Michelle if not for Barack.

Megyn Kelly's comments come amid ongoing divorce rumors surrounding the Obamas. In January, citing a "high-society insider," Page Six reported that Michelle had "checked out" of her life in Washington, DC, and was "pretending everything is OK with Barack all the time."

Since then, the former president has been seen without his wife, fueling speculation. This included Michelle not attending Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Trump’s inauguration dinner.

Michelle and Barack Obama have not directly addressed the rumors. However, on Valentine's Day, the couple shared heartfelt messages for each other on Instagram, with the former first lady calling him her "rock."

During her appearance on Sophia Bush’s Work In Progress podcast last week, Michelle explained that it was her choice not to attend the two events, adding:

"People—they couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself—that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing."

As per Page Six, Michelle was seen in LA last Thursday, wearing her wedding ring.

Neither Michelle nor Barack Obama has publicly commented on Megyn Kelly's recent remarks.
