On September 25, Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty of a criminal conspiracy related to illicit funds from late Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi. The accusations alleged that Sarkozy used money from Gaddafi to fund his 2007 election campaign. Sarkozy was the French president between 2007 and 2012, and his imprisonment marks one of the first in modern French political history.

According to BBC, Sarkozy intends to file an appeal against the decision of his imprisonment and considers it "extremely serious for rule of law". Irrespective, the former French president will have to serve the sentence, even if he files an appeal. Apart from five years of imprisonment, he is also set to pay a fine of €100K.

However, the Paris court acquitted Nicolas Sarkozy of all other charges, including passive corruption and illegal campaign financing. The French president is currently married to Italian model and singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, with whom he shares daughter Giulia Sarkozy.

His three sons are Jean, Pierre, and Louis, all of whom are working towards building their own names. Louis Sarkozy is the third son of Nicolas Sarkozy, born to his second wife, Cecilia Attias. He works as a writer and media personality. He is a TV commentator who discusses extensively on American and world politics on the French channel LCI.

The interview also focused on Sarkozy's new venture of launching a series of loafers, each inspired by an important historical figure. The project was in collaboration with Pablo Gómez-Lechón Barrachina. Some of the personalities who inspired these loafers include Sigmund Freud, Thomas Jefferson, and Steven Pinker.

Speaking of why he chose to base his loafers on thinkers, he said:

"Firstly, because these are areas that are within our interest. I have studied philosophy for the past couple of years at NYU, and Pablo and Victoria are both extremely well-read. Secondly, the team and I agreed that this was an area yet untouched by mainstream fashion. We see constant collaborations between athletes and artists with brands, but very rarely are academics and public intellectuals thrust onto the stage. We just happen to think their message is as worthy to be put forth."

Louis Sarkozy also spoke about his stepmother and Nicolas Sarkozy's current wife, Carla-Bruni Sarkozy. He mentioned that "her character, humour, integrity and culture" have influenced him much more than her "style", alluding to her professional experience as a model.

He was also asked whether Carla would model loafers if he designed them for women. Louis Sarkozy was open to the idea and revealed that he would release loafers for women soon, and it would be a part of the campaign.
