Traci Braxton recently passed away at the age of 50. Her sister Toni announced the news through Instagram on March 12, sharing a black and white picture of herself and her siblings, and wrote,

“It is with utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.”

She ended the statement by requesting everyone for privacy as they plan for her funeral. The Braxton family also confirmed the news in a statement where they stated that Traci died following a battle with cancer.

While speaking to People, the singer’s representative said that she was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband Kevin Surratt and a child.

According to CelebrityNetWorth, the Maryland native’s net worth was estimated to be around $800,000. She gained a lot of wealth from her work in the entertainment industry. Following her appearance on reality television, she started a solo musical career.

The Braxtons initially signed a record deal with Arista Records in 1989. They released their first single, Good Life in 1990 and since the track was not a hit as expected, they were dropped from Arista Records.

Toni was then signed by LaFace Records in 1991 and the remaining Braxtons became backup singers for her first U.S. tour, music videos, and promotional appearances. They were featured in the music video of Toni’s third single, Seven Whole Days.

Traci reunited with her sisters on the reality show Braxton Family Values in 2011 and joined the third season of Marriage Boot Camp with her husband in 2013. She began her solo career the same year and got her radio show The Traci Braxton Show on BLIS F.M. radio.

She released her first debut album, Crash & Burn, in 2014 and it reached the 108th position on Billboard Hot 200. The Braxtons then released their second album, Braxton Family Christmas, in 2015. Released on October 30, it became a hit and remained on the Billboard charts for quite some time.

Traci Braxton also appeared on the stage play There’s a Stranger in My House in 2017. She released the single Broken Things in 2018 featuring her sisters Toni, Towanda, and Trina. She released another single, Lifeline, from her second album, On Earth, in August 2018 and the full album was released the same month.
