10 Survivor Series takeaways

S
Strowman was the star of Survivor Series 2017

The smoke has cleared, and Raw took the Survivor Series -- barely! After a series of pretty good matches, the main event featured a pretty weird finish, spotlighting the companies up and coming heel... Triple H.

With that being said, here are ten things we can take away from Survivor Series 2017.

#10 Don't expect an end to brand warfare

Competition can be good for business.
Competition can be good for business.

This is the second time WWE has tried to have its weekly shows butt heads, and it's all in a bid to rekindle the atmosphere of the Monday Night Wars when WCW and WWE vied for ratings supremacy.

Will the internecine warfare pay off, or will WWE abandon the brand split as it has done before? Only time will tell, but the Survivor Series really didn't settle anything with its screwjob booking.

#9 AJ Styles is not up to the challenge of Brock Lesnar

AJ Styles match with Brock Lesnar may have done him more harm than good

As much as we love AJ Styles, his loss to Brock Lesnar probably harmed his stock. Rumour has it that AJ won the title just to keep Jinder Mahal from looking weak against Lesnar.

Initially, it seemed like the plan was for Jinder Mahal to win the WWE title back in time for the India tour, but now that Jinder isn't competing for the title until 8 days after the Live event, it seems like AJ will be champion for a while.

#8 The newly re-formed Shield is invincible

The Hounds of Justice will not lose

The Shield finally reunited and seemed poised to take the WWE by storm. Then Roman Reigns had a real-life illness and was forced out of action.

Simply put, Reigns needs to regain momentum, and the smart booking put the Shield over. While New Day is there for laughs, the Shield is there to win. Look for the Shield to be booked strong in the coming months, especially with Roman's new IC championship.

#7 The Raw Women are superior

The Raw women have more pedigree

While Smackdown's female locker room is quite impressive, they just don't have dominant players like Asuka and Nia Jax. With all respect to Natalya, while she may have the record for most appearances at PPVs than any other woman, her resume isn't as impressive as Asuka's or even Bayley's.

There are still many fans who remember her 'farting' days. It looks like the Raw women are the superior female force... for now.

#6 Enzo Amore isn't going away

Enzo has a unique look and persona, to say the least.
Enzo has a unique look and persona, to say the least.

Enzo Amore has gone from irritating people in the RAW locker room to irritating people in the 205 Live locker room. In fact, as of this writing, he's been kicked out of the locker room and isn't allowed to change with the other wrestlers!

Still, his victory over Kallisto in the Survivor Series Pre Show clinches his push for him. Expect to see a lot of the 'realest guy in the room' in the upcoming year.

#5 It could be Tamina Snuka's time

Superfly Snuka's daughter could finally come out of his shadow.
Superfly Snuka's daughter could finally come out of his shadow.

Even though she was on the losing side in the Women's Traditional Elimination Tag match, Tamina Snuka easily stole the show. She eliminated fellow Samoan superstar Nia Jax via countout, and looked impressive throughout, even delivering a superfly splash just like her late father.

Snuka would tap out to Asuka before the night was done, but she still looked impressive and dominating in her performance. With her father's passing, the WWE is no longer worried about bad press from his possible manslaughter decades ago, and Tamina could finally break into the top of the women's division.

#4 The Rise of the Lone Wolf

Former NFL star Baron Corbin has made the transition to wrestler quite well.
Former NFL star Baron Corbin has made the transition to wrestling quite well

Even though he may move up and down the card like the proverbial yo-yo, The Miz is always prominently featured on WWE programming and has been for years. Defeating the former world champion is no small feat, and that's why it carries such significance that Baron Corbin beat him decisively at Survivor Series.

Rumor has it that management is even higher on Corbin than Braun Strowman, so be sure to watch what the Lone Wolf does in the coming year. Perhaps he will finally break out of the mid-card into a full-time main event spot.

#3 The Bar still gets no respect from creative

Sheamus and Ceasaro
Sheamus and Ceasaro

Despite the fact that the WWE has historically booked big, powerful men to the moon, Sheamus and Ceasaro can't seem to get a break.

Both men are quick and agile for their size, and both have impressive strength. Cesaro, in particular, can work matches with anyone, from Big Show to any of the stars of 205 Live. Sheamus is a former world champion and is built like a tank.

Yet, they were defeated by the Usos, a tweener heel/face team that lacks any real heat. Despite the internet wrestling community being staunch supporters of The Bar, don't expect great things from them in the coming year.

It's possible that the duo are just placeholders who won the tag titles back recently because WWE wanted to do the Shield vs New Day match at Survivor Series. Expect Rollins & Ambrose to win back the titles very soon.

#2 Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss proved that they can go

What was considered to be a potential sleeper match delivered in a big way

These two women stole the show at Survivor Series, putting on a better, more physical contest than Miz/Corbin. As the 'torch bearers' of their respective brands, both ladies had a lot to live up to, and they succeeded.

Charlotte proved that she is still a notch better than her longtime rival, while Alexa silenced critics who accused her of just being a pretty face. We expect great things out of both women in the year to come.

#1 Braun fears no man

Br
Braun Strowman stood tall at Survivor Series

How many wrestling fans wish they could treat their boss like Braun treated his at Survivor Series? After Triple H betrayed one of his RAW teammates, Braun spelt out in no uncertain terms that he was not going to be played for a fool.

Triple H attempted to beat down Braun, who devastated the COO of the WWE with a pair of running powerslams. Look for Braun vs. Triple H to last until Wrestlemania.
