#2 Why Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky (SCU) were an unexpected choice to become the first-ever AEW World Tag Team Champions

SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) and The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) put on an exhilarating tag team contest during last night's main event. The fans went bonkers during this match, which was also the finals of AEW's Tag Team Tournament.

This particular matchup was foreshadowed when The Lucha Bros attacked SCU a few weeks earlier. Undoubtedly, Pentagon Jr. & Fenix were the favourites going into this match. But after a series of fast-paced sequences, Scorpio Sky surprised Pentagon Jr. with a cradle pin.

Admittedly, this might have been a bit surprising for the live crowd, who weren't sure about the finish.

Don't get me wrong, fans were cheering in the end, but there was a subtle shift in tone after it was all said and done - as great as Sky & Kazarian are, most fans thought of them as a unit that would help an up-and-coming tag team to proceed further in the tournament.

On top of that, even if the finish made sense from a booking standpoint, it still felt a little out of place in the end.

Anyways, props to AEW for at least sticking with a long-term plan throughout this tournament, and given the company's extensive focus on Tag Team Wrestling, fans can't wait to see what's in store for the champions next week.
