4 WWE Superstars who will never reach 'The Guy' status

En
Rusev Day no more

Through the years, there has been one Superstar who has been the poster boy for WWE. While it has been the likes of Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold in the past, John Cena played the role of 'The Guy' for the most part of the 21st century. Now Roman Reigns is the most likely successor to Cena.

While wrestling fans will love to see anyone else in the role of the top company man, Reigns is the guy. Stars like AJ Styles and Braun Strowman give Roman a run for his money but Vince McMahon has always put Roman Reigns over everyone else.

A sad truth is that WWE has plenty of really good wrestlers who could get there, but never will. Now we look at four wrestlers who should be 'The Guy' but will never be.

#4 Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn could not replicate his NXT success in the WWE

There's no doubting that Sami Zayn deserves a title shot. He is getting that chance at Fastlane in a few weeks. But that's about it. Sami as a baby face could've been the next Daniel Bryan. Exactly how his NXT run went, he could have sprung back from his run of losses to win big. It is safe to say that it won't happen anytime soon.

Now if Sami Zayn were to win the title, it isn't guaranteed that he will be successful after that. He will fall into that pit like most world champions do and never get a shot after his first title run and or go back to being jobber again.

WWE sees Sami as a sidekick than as a good looking guy who everyone loves. Unless Sami leaves WWE to go back to the Indies, he will always be good, but not good enough.

#3 Cesaro

Cesaro has not been able to replicate his tag team success in the singles division

Cesaro has done so well that he could be in the pole position at WWE. But he sadly will be remembered only as a tag team wrestler having been the WWE Tag Team Champion with Tyson Kidd and holding the same title with Sheamus at present.

Why has Cesaro been in the tag division so much? It's probably because Vince McMahon only sees him as a tag team wrestler. The rest of the wrestling world, on the other hand, believes that there could be more for Cesaro to achieve. Cesaro may be missing mic skills, but not everyone needs really good mic skills to be at the top. Cesaro is a fantastic wrestler and deserves so much more.

#2 Rusev

Rusev needs better storylines

Rusev has done a great job of building himself up after that horrible love angle he was a part of a few years ago. However, his losing record in the WWE is something worth worrying about.

Rusev has always been stuck in the mid-card purgatory. His notable feuds were the ones against Roman Reigns and John Cena but both are now stories of the past.

He wasn't able to make many headlines since then. He might be over with his 'Rusev Day' gimmick, but he needs more than that to get him up in the main roster scene.

#1 Dean Ambrose

Enter ca
The Lunatic Fringe has fallen behind the other Shield members in the pecking order

When Dean Ambrose was a part of the Shield, everyone was expecting him to a consistent contender in the main event picture. Years later, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have clearly done better in that role.

Ambrose has gotten to the point as a baby face that when WWE needs a reaction for a title change or anything, he is the guy. After he loses, it's back down the ladder until they need him again.

Ambrose sadly was a transitory champion and othing more than that. WWE doesn't want to admit it but Dean Ambrose is better feuding over the mid-card titles like the Intercontinental Championship than anything else.
