6 reasons why everyone should check out All Elite Wrestling's Double or Nothing

Double or Nothing!
Double or Nothing!

May 25 is just over 3 weeks away, and after All Elite Wrestling was announced on January 1, it's exciting to know that their first show is finally here.

Coming to us from the world famous MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Tony Khan's new wrestling company is promising a very exciting show, and with Omega vs. Jericho, Bucks vs. Lucha Bros and so many other great matches lined up for the show, most wrestling fans are quite excited.

Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same excitement, and even if you aren't a fan of the people around the promotion, an alternative wrestling brand is something that the industry definitely needs, so we should all give it a chance.

Whether you're a fan of AEW already, you're intrigued about the show, or whether you're skeptical about this brand new company, the following are 6 reasons why you need to at least give Double or Nothing a chance.

#6 The first realistic alternative we've had in decades

Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes

Despite the fact that they don't want to be compared to WCW (and shouldn't be), it's hard to deny that AEW is already the best alternative we've had to the WWE since the final days of WCW back in the early 2000s.

Sure, we've had TNA/Impact, ROH, and others since then, but nothing in this magnitude, as All Elite Wrestling has the chance to transcend the hardcore audience and bring in casual viewers.

Double or Nothing likely won't be able to bring back a lot of casual viewers, but with a great show here, their TV show will have a lot more hype behind it and will solidify them as a true alternative. The 2000s

They've expressed that they don't want to compete with WWE, and hat they're just trying to be an alternative product, and fans tuning into this show will give that push a big head start.

#5 Jim Ross returning to make one of the best announce teams in the world

Good Old JR
Good Old JR

Commentary in any sport or entertainment medium is very critical, so when AEW announced the signing of arguably the greatest announcer in wrestling history, fans were understandably excited.

We've not seen Good Old JR as a full-time announcer for years now, and even though he's gotten older, with a great team around him, this could be a major strength for All Elite Wrestling going forward.

While the 3-man commentary booths have been criticized often over the past few years, Cody likes the idea, and JR will be flanked by the promising Alex Marvez and the voice of PWG, Excalibur.

They've obviously yet to work together on a live show, but from recent Double or Nothing episodes, AEW have made it clear that the work is being put in, and if you're a big-time fan of JR, this commentary team is going to be a major plus, and a good reason to tune in.

#4 Plenty of new, refreshing stars

AEW is ready to offer something different
AEW is ready to offer something different

For years now, the wrestling world has seen a few top stars, and that's it, and while AEW's roster hasn't had a chance to prove themselves yet, they have a deep roster full of superstars waiting to flourish.

Most fans will know The Young Bucks, Cody, Kenny, Jericho, and other top stars, but beyond that, they've got performers with breakout potential from Joey Janela to Jimmy Havoc to Adam Page, and so on.

On the women's side, their roster may not be as deep as other promotions, but with Britt Baker, Bea Priestly, Nyla Rose, Kylie Rae, Aja Kong, and others, they're ready to step up and shine.

The WWE's roster is fantastic, and you can watch for hours and continue to see amazing performances from those guys, but AEW is ready to offer something different, and while no one is suggesting you stop watching WWE to see AEW, it's worth checking out to see some of the wrestlers who will be worldwide stars for years.

#3 Pure intrigue

The intrigue surrounding the company has been quite enticing

From the moment AEW was announced on YouTube way back on January 1, and while we know what the in-ring product is going to be like, the intrigue surrounding the company has been quite enticing.

From the stage/ring set up to the overall TV presentation, this is a question that many are waiting to see, and after seeing the same things in wrestling for years, it's going to be fun to see how AEW attempts to stand out from the pack.

Ultimately, this is a big-time event, and when an AEW TV deal comes along, it could be quite different, but given that it's their first show, they are trying to impress, and it could go a long way to winning over some fans.

We can speculate all we want about these things, but we'll just have to wait until May 25 to see, but if you are interested in checking the product out, a refreshing set up could be something that keeps you watching their product.

#2 A rivalry re-ignited

A brotherly clash
A brotherly clash

For weeks now, the Double or Nothing card has been taking shape, but the one question everyone was asking was who exactly would be the opponent for EVP, Cody?

On a recent 'Road to Double or Nothing', that was answered, as it was revealed that Dustin Rhodes, Cody's older brother, would be his opponent, and after several fantastic promos from both men, its quickly become the most intriguing match on the card.

Back at All In, many people overlooked Cody's bout with Nick Aldis, but it ended up being a thriller, and given the story that both of these men are going to tell inside the ring, this one may just do the same thing.

Many have questioned Cody's ability as a wrestler since heading to the indies for the first time, but he's a talent and a great storyteller, and a veteran like Dustin is a great opponent, and if you want to see a true story between two great performers, this is one that will be fantastic to see for new and old fans alike.

#1 Battle to be the best

On the top of most people's list is the AAA Tag Team Championship Bout
On the top of most people's list is the AAA Tag Team Championship Bout

The Double or Nothing card is absolutely stacked, and no matter what style of wrestling you support, there's going to be something for you, but on the top of most people's list is the AAA Tag Team Championship bout.

Both teams (The Young Bucks and The Lucha Bros) have been called the best in the world, and after their match for the AAA Tag Team Titles drew 5.4 million viewers, there's obviously plenty of excitement for them to clash again.

Whether you like these teams or not, this match is bound to be incredible, and given the gravity of the situation for the new company, they will lay it all on the line, and it may go down as one of the biggest tag team matches in history.

Ultimately, this probably won't change people's opinions of both teams, but if you're on the fence or skeptical about AEW, a thriller here could garner plenty of fans, and that's what will ultimately happen.
