What’s the story?

Earlier today, WWE veteran and Pro Wrestling legend Chris Jericho finally landed in Tokyo ahead of his mega clash against Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega on January 4, 2018, at the Wrestle Kingdom 12.

In case you didn’t know…

In 2017, former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho shocked the entire world by making an epic return to New Japan Pro Wrestling during NJPW’s Power Struggle PPV and challenging Kenny Omega to a match at WK 12 for the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship. This was Jericho’s NJPW return for the first time in almost 10 years, having previously wrestled for the promotion during the 90s.

The heart of the matter

Chris Jericho finally arrived in Tokyo earlier in the day, ahead of his big match against Kenny Omega on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome. Upon his return to Tokyo, NJPW posted a video of Chris Jericho on their official Twitter handle and in the clip Y2J revealed that this was the first time in his life that he had to spend his new year on a plane as he was travelling over the ocean to Japan. However, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion said that it was worth it because he wanted to get to Japan as soon as he could and claimed that it is a fresh way to start the New Year with him mentally preparing for his Tokyo Dome match against Omega.

“The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla” then said that he hasn’t been partying or celebrating on New Year ’s Day but instead the only thing that has been on his mind is his match against Kenny Omega. Furthermore, Jericho stated that his New Year will start on the 4th of January after he beats “The Cleaner” at the Tokyo Dome and wins the IWGP US Title.

What’s next?

On January 4, Chris Jericho will be making his much-awaited in-ring return to NJPW as he prepares to defeat Kenny Omega and win the IWGP US Heavyweight Title. However, on the other hand, the Bullet Club leader has claimed that at this year’s Tokyo Dome show the wrestling world will get to witness a new version of Kenny Omega, as he plans of retaining his championship and making a big statement in doing so.

Author’s Take

Chris Jericho’s clash against Kenny Omega is truly a spectacle and there is no doubt that the two Canadian stars will give their all and put up a great matchup for the crowd.
