10 worst WWE Champions ever

Here, we will discuss the 10 worst WWE Champions ever. Back in the days, the WWE title was something which had a lot of prestige and the superstars were going to ruthless limits to get their name etched in that gold plated belt. Though it is still up there as a top prize, over the recent years the value of the title has plummeted. And there is no need to search for reasons for that as it is right in front of our eyes in the form of the company itself. Theyve embarked on some crazy creative directions which gave us champions who werent up to the challenge of keeping the title prestigious for one reason or the other. With Daniel Bryan vacating the title being the highlight at the moment, here is a look back at some of the worst champions that WWE have had in their history.

#10 Sycho Sid

Sid was someone who was a victim of the company’s efforts to shove in a talent into our throats to make him a big star. He was highly regarded during his run in WWE but Sid was never ready to make it big when he was getting the push.

This ended up in him getting two title reigns which no one wants to remember about. His first surprisingly came after a win against Shawn Michaels in 1996 where he won the title after hitting Michaels with a camera.

He then dropped it back to Michaels later who vacated it due to injury, this opened doors for Sid’s second run as the champion which ended after just 5 days at WrestleMania where he became the victim of Undertaker.

#9 The Miz

In case you don’t remember him, he was the guy who used to call himself Awesome. Now that said, Miz had a fairytale main event run back in 2010 which managed to raise the eyebrows of Stephen Hawking.

And two things which came along with his main event run were a WrestleMania Main event and the WWE title. Miz won the title by cashing in the Money in the bank contract against Randy Orton. And as great champions do, Miz had his first big title feud also, against Jerry Lawler.

Miz then also had feuds with John Cena and John Morrison which included the horrible main event against Cena at WrestleMania 27 where he retained the title with the help of Rock. He eventually dropped the title to the Cenation leader to end the uneventful title reign.

#8 Dolph Ziggler

The one who doesn’t get a push after doing so much had two title reigns in his not pushed career, both carried a sad ending as well. His length of his first title reign was just mere minutes when Edge took the title away from him after Ziggler was simply given it on the same night by Vickie Guerrero.

His second title reign came in the form of Money in the bank cashing against Alberto Del Rio. It didn’t turn out good as well after Ziggler suffered a concussion which took him out for almost a month.

When he returned, many thought that he would retain the title but that didn’t happen as he dropped it to Del Rio. Ziggler is someone who deserves to hold the title but apparently the creative team had plans to devalue the title with some pointless changes.

#7 Rey Mysterio

The company has been always high when it came to capitalizing a real life situation to fill in a storyline. As everyone was shocked in the passing of Eddie Guerrero, the company decided to push Eddie’s best friend Mysterio in order to cash in on the situation.

Rey won his first title by winning the Royal Rumble and headlining WrestleMania. his title reign included many loses on television shows and it ended just four months later when Booker T took the title away.

The second title win came against Jack Swagger in 2010 and it was just WWE’s way of giving Rey a short run so as to refresh the brains of fans. He dropped the title soon to Kane and opened doors for his third and worst title run which lasted just hours after John Cena played the spoil sport.

#6 Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam is a great wrestler without any doubt but he wasn’t someone who had that much luck with the titles. His only title reign in WWE came when he defeated John Cena at One Night Stand in 2006 with the help of Edge.

With the real ECW fans being so hot and having chants which said “If Cena wins we riot”, maybe the WWE didn’t have another choice. However as Van Dam’s title reign started many believed that it would be a long one.

It was indeed 22 days long as the company had to make Van Dam drop the title after Van Dam was caught with Marijuana along with his fellow ECW legend, Sabu. Edge was the lucky one which benefited as he was the next champion due to Van Dam’s love to highflying.

#5 Goldberg

Goldberg was indeed a big deal when it came to WCW as he was responsible for the promotion’s last fight with his long winning streak. But the problem that WWE had with Goldberg was they never knew what to do with him.

He started off in WWE with a one year contract and WWE was testing waters by just shooting him right into the main event to challenge for Triple H’s title. they had a great opportunity to get him over at SummerSlam inside the Elimination chamber, but WWE decided to push it further to Unforgiven.

It didn’t sit well with the fans and Goldberg ended up being a disappointing champion both inside and outside the ring. His title reign lasted four months and another four months later he was out of the company as well.

#4 Mark Henry

It took Henry more than a decade after coming into the company to get his hands finally on the title and when he did; he made sure that it was a forgettable one.

Henry’s dreadful run started when he defeated Randy Orton in a pretty much clean way in 2011. The fans however weren’t keen on the monster heel getting the title. He had defenses against Randy Orton, Khali and Big Show in matches that no one would remember.

His title reign ended at the TLC pay-per-view after Big Show got the win. It was just a 70 day run which many fans realized as the just a transition stage which the WWE took to take the title away from Randy Orton.

#3 Jack Swagger

Many people in the WWE saw Jack Swagger as the replacement of Kurt Angle which pretty much explained the similar clothes and moves. But Swagger was nowhere near Angle when it came to being a champion.

Swagger won the title by cashing in the Money in the Bank against Chris Jericho just days after WrestleMania in 2010.

He then went on to have a 84 day reign which saw him lost the majority of his matches but still hanging onto the title. WWE actually tried to get him over with a clean win over Randy Orton but it was too late to revive a loser. He eventually dropped the title to Rey Mysterio who embarked on his painful reign as well.

#2 Vince McMahon

Being on top of the biggest wrestling promotion is never an easy task, sometimes you have to feed your own ego also and that was the thing Vince McMahon did when he decided to have title reigns out of nowhere.

McMahon’s first win was against his in-law, Hunter in 1999 and without much surprise he won it with a bit of help. It was Austin who interfered in the match between Hunter and Vince which worked in favor of the chairman. And just like that he was the champion in the hottest period of professional wrestling.

His reign ended when he vacated the title on the next episode only to Hunter to win it back. But Vince decided to repeat the whole thing again as he won the title again from Hunter.

It was the classic example of the Boss can do anything motto however, McMahon’s run as champion wasn’t anything which the fans loved.

#1 The Great Khali

Vince McMahon always had a sweet spot of giants even if some where not even able to walk properly. Khali winning the title was just a prime example of this.

Khali had a good initial push where he faced Undertaker, who somehow managed to hide the shortcomings of Khali for some time. However, as soon as the fans realized that he had nothing to give inside the ring; the company made him the world champion.

Khali carried the title for around 61 days and also had a win against Batista at SummerSlam (now imagine that match now). Batista eventually won the title and ended Khali’s walk as the top champion n the company.
