5 celebrities who have tried their hand at football

Everybody loves football,even celbrities. Many famous actors and singers have shown their support for the clubs they love including Noel Gallagher who supports Manchester City and Justin Timberlake who supports Manchester United. Some celebrities have even tried their hand at the sport. Here is a list of 5 celebrities who have kicked a football.

#1 Louis Tomlinson

The One Direction star, who is a keen footballer, recently signed a one year contract with Championship side Doncaster Rovers. The 22-year-old is a Rovers fan and was delighted to fulfill his dream of playing with the club he supported as a boy. The singer was employed with Doncaster before gaining worldwide fame with his singing group.

Tomlinson will not play every Rovers match but has still been issued with a squad number and will turn out for the reserve team on some occasions. Doncaster's stadium will surely be full as everyone, especially the females will want to catch a glimpse of their favourite singer.

#2 Sean Connery

The man who we all know as suave secret agent James Bond was an avid footballer in his youth and was even offered a contract by legendary Manchester United manager Sir Matt Busby. Busby was impressed with Connery's skills after he spotted him during a scouting trip in the East Pacific and was keen to add him to United's books.

Connery, who was 23 at that time turned down Busby's offer as he thought that he knew that a footballers career is short and he would only get around 7 years at the top. The Scot choose acting as a profession and gained worldwide acclaim for his portrayal of 007.

#3 Vinnie Jones

Hollywood tough guy Vinnie Jones who has played roles in movies such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, X-Men:The Last Stand, and Gone in 60 Seconds was a professional footballer. The 49-year-old has played for numerous clubs including Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Wimbledon where he won the FA Cup in 1988.

Jones, who was a midfielder made over 40 appearances for Chelsea scoring 4 goals and for Wimbledon where he scored 14 goals in 177 appearances. Jones also made 9 appearances for the Wales national football team and was even made captain.

#4 Matt Smith

The Doctor Who actor originally planned to become a footballer appearing for teams such as Nottingham Forest and Leicester City before changing professions. The 31-year-old was even the captain of his school's football team when he was scouted by Leicester City.

Unfortunately for Smith he picked up a back injury at the age of 16 which ended his dream of becoming a footballer. Smith then enrolled himself in the National Youth Theater in London and acted in various plays before landing the role of the Travelling Tardis doctor on the famous BBC show.

#5 Gordon Ramsay

Television's most famous chef was also a keen footballer in his youth. The 53-year-old was ever present for his school's football team and was even scoted by Scottish football club Glasgow Rangers for a span of three years. Rangers offered him a trial during his school break which Ramsay gladly accepted.

However the Scot picked up a knee injury after playing a couple of matches which ended his football career prematurely. Ramsay then trained to be a chef where he met with astonishing success and is now the owner of several restaurants and is a judge on numerous shows including Masterchef, Hell's Kitchen and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
