5 matches that should be added to WWE Payback

WWEs latest pay-per-view venture, Payback is just a week away and the company has only managed to throw in four matches into the card. The status of the WWE World Heavyweight championship is still up in the air as the battle between Shield and Evolution seems to be the main event. The feud between John Cena and Bray Wyatt also found a place in the card in the form of a last man standing match. Newly crowned midcard champions, Sheamus and Bad News Barrett will defend their title against their respective opponents as well. However, there is still a lot of space left in the card to fill and WWE needs to do the same over the next week. So here is a look at the five possible matches that the company could add to the pay-per-view.

#5 Rusev vs. Big E

The face run of Big E lost its sting when he dropped the Intercontinental title to Bad New Barrett. Though he has the in ring skills to stay afloat, WWE clearly had to give him a new storyline.

At the same time, Rusev is becoming stale over the week thanks to the quality of opponents that he gets. WWE teased a clash between the two but didn’t follow it up, but if they want to have Rusev on the top soon, they should think about giving him someone like Big E.

The creative team could easily milk out a good feud between Big E and Rusev for the time being and turn Big E heel afterwards to make him look good.

It will be a big step forward for Rusev as well as now he is just squashing the jobber who live no mark on his resume.

#4 Layla vs. Summer Rae

It’s been a long time since the WWE divas division had a good match with some storyline backing. And now WWE has the opportunity to fill that void thanks to the situation between Summer Rae and Layla.

Summer returned last week a went right after Layla who apparently stole Fandango away from Summer. The catfight that went down was a trip back into the Attitude Era where there was a lot of instance where two women would fight over one man.

This one could make up a good pre-show match if the company doesn’t want to waste the pay-per-view time. Adding Fandango into the mix as a special guest referee or something like that would add the extra spice to the already hot match.

#3 Jack Swagger vs. Adam Rose

The battle between the lemon and the Rosebud dates back to the debut night of Adam Rose. However, it failed to transform into an in ring affair as the company was letting the fans get a taste of Rose.

The reaction he got in London shows that the fans have bought his gimmick but now the company will have to let his wrestling skills speak. The best way to do that would be a match with Jack Swagger to settle the score that Rose has with Zeb Colter.

Picking up a pay-per-view win on his debut will be a good way to launch Rose and show everyone that he is gifted inside the ring as well. As far as Swagger is concerned, another loss is not going to make him look bad as he is already in the depths after breaking up with Cesaro.

#2 Paige vs. Alicia Fox (Divas Title)

Paige had her first successful defense on a pay-per-view at Extreme Rules when she defeated Tamina.

Tamina earned the No.1 contender spot for the match by winning a Divas battle Royal and though the WWE didn’t have something like that this time around, being the first women to beat Paige in the main roster maker Alicia Fox an automatic choice to face the champion at Payback.

Alicia has been showing some layers to her character after Extreme Rules and the new direction of being a crazy chick makes it worth watching her.

Paige on the other hand would find this as an opportunity to show the fans that she is still the unmatched queen in the divas division.

#1 Wyatt Family vs. The Usos (Tag Team Titles)

After WrestleMania the tag team champions were trying their best to stay relevant as the division had big modifications. Most of the teams got split up and we were left with some makeshift tag teams which didn’t sit well with the fans.

However, when the Usos decided to get involved in the feud between John Cena and Bray Wyatt, they managed to get more spotlight.

What it did was, it opened up a chance for the Usos to have credible opponents at Payback in the form of Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. Rowan and Harper have been rotting in the shadow of Bray Wyatt for a long time now and it would only be fair to give them a chance.

The Tag titles will have some sort of importance in the pay-per-view as well and WWE could easily incorporate this feud into the last man standing match between Cena and Bray as well.
