Kalas Liverpool

Having won the last edition of the FA Youth Cup, they will look to defend their crown. What has been saddening from the Blues fans perspective is the way their bright youngsters never get chance to play in the first team, contrary to other clubs in Europe who provide ample chances for their own products to foster. Here, we discuss five bright Chelsea stars who can take the league by surprise next season if given chances to prove themselves:Disclaimer: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and they do not necessarily represent the views of Sportskeeda.

#5 Tomas Kalas

Kalas Liverpool

Tomas Kalas showed tremendous maturity for a player of his age when he was given a role to nullify Liverpool’s attack last season, but that display wasn't enough for Jose to trust him as a backup option this term.

He was loaned to German club FC Koln which proved dismal choice as far as he's concerned, with no league appearances. But, his return to English turf at the winter transfer window was satisfying with Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka trusting the Czech Republican in important games and he returned favours with back-to-back solid performances.

His loan spell with Middlesbrough ended this week, but he wants to stay with the Boro camp and encourage the team as they are push for a promotion to the Premier League next season. With enough chances, he can act as a decent backup to the current crop of central defenders at Chelsea.

#4 Nathan Ake

ake

Nathan Ake was in Jose Mourinho's squad for the season but the defender was loaned to Reading in search for first team football in March. He has since impressed for the Royals and was named Reading's Man of the Match in their midweek defeat to Bournemouth.

A versatile player who can be deployed in either of three positions - left back, centre back and in a defensive midfield role, the midfielder could be handy for Jose Mourinho as a decent backup option.

But at the age of 20, Ake could decide to rather search for first team football elsewhere, preferably at another Premier League club next season.

#3 Marco van Ginkel

Marco van Ginkel

Marco van Ginkel is one of the most promising midfielders bought for a fairly decent price as far as his age is concerned, but the young midfielder was loaned out to AC Milan in the Serie A after being removed from Jose's season plans this term.

Van Ginkel has struggled with injuries in Italy but has impressed whenever fit. A more than decent option at central midfield, the young Dutchman can boost Chelsea's midfield options next term.

Chelsea were reportedly close to bringing Marco van Ginkel back to Stamford Bridge in January because of the lack of playing time at Milan, no such activity materialised but it could well be that he could remain at the bridge next season.

#2 Victor Moses

Moses Stoke

Victor Moses impressed the Premier League in the 2011-12 season spurring the Blues to indulge in lengthy neotiations till the deal was finally made. The winger couldn't recapture similar form in his first season with Chelsea. He spent the next season on an unfruitful loan at Liverpool last season.

But, there's a fair chance that Victor Moses would be a part of Chelsea's season plans next time around with Jose reportedly eager to terminate his loan arrangement prematurely this season itself only for Victor Moses to reject.

Chelsea are no short of options in his position though, as the winter window signing of Juan Cuadrado only further strengthens them in that position but Victor Moses would provide them more directness on the pitch and Mourinho could use a Plan B against several teams.

#1 Patrick Bamford

Bamford

Didier Drogba might have won Chelsea the Champions League in his last spell at the London club, but he doesn't have the same ammunition to provide enough firepower upfront anymore.

With his increasing immobility, Jose Mourinho would look for a backup elsewhere and Chelsea's young striker, currently on loan to Middlesbrough seems to be a fantastic replacement for the Ivorian. With his consistent performances in Championship, the Englishman has scored 17 goals this season earning the Championship’s Player of the year accolade as he looks to fire Middlesbrough to promotion.

Bamford has scored 19 goals this season in 34 starts, averaging at least one goal in two starts so far for Middlesbrough and is top scorer for the Riverside Stadium based club this season.

Injury problems for Diego Costa and Loic Remy are likely to provide Chelsea's third striker more than enough chances to prove himself next season, and Patrick Bamford seems more than ready to fight at the top level.
