The Strongman

By any standards, the roster of the WWE isn’t really that crowded. It’s got an immense amount of talent, though. But more often than not, that talent gets underutilized. Many times they are released and only sometime they stay back and remain loyal to the company. Mark Henry is a man who comes in the latter category. He’s been with the company since 1996. That’s almost 20 years in the making. He’s been advertised as the World’s Strongest Man and yet he’s only had one World Heavyweight Championship to his credit.Henry is a valuable performer to the WWE and here are 5 reasons why he’s the most underutilized guy in the WWE right now.

#5 Legit reputation

The Strongman

Mark Henry has been advertised as the Worlds Strongest Man by the WWE since forever. And that is a legit statement. He has many records when it comes to powerlifting and weightlifting and this reputation has been following him since he was a teenager. He could lift 922 kgs of weight then. During his time, nobody ever came close to lifting as much as he did,

Hes an Olympian and 1996 was a monumental year as he got some major mainstream attention, appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Today Show andJay Lenos show.Despite all of this he predominantly loses matches in the WWE. His career has mostly been about losing than winning.

#4 Great Actor

Emmy Moment

Well, if you haven’t witnessed his entire WWE career, just go on Youtube and type ‘Mark Henry Retirement Speech’. Go to any video where you see him wearing a pink jacket. That promo right there, that segment right there was probably the most Emmy- worth moment from WWE that year. Mark Henry completely swerved the crowd like a boss.

He made everyone believe that he’s going to retire. Out came John Cena and the crowd sided more towards Henry. The speech was quite emotional and he made you teary eyed.

And then came the World’s Strongest Slam. To John Cena.

And that was Acting101 by the World’s Strongest Man.

#3 Personality

A respectable man

Have you watched some of WWE’s candid programs. Something like the Hall of Fame? Well, you get to see all those larger than life WWE characters as humans. You get a slice of how they conduct themselves normally.

Henry always comes across as respectful and respectable. He’s funny and he’s generally quite honest. And he’s so cool, he smiles when people remind him of his ‘Sexual Chocolate’ gimmick.

He’s a company man for sure, given his loyalty for so many years. We’ve also been introduced to his young son in the last Hall of Fame, who happened to be delightful as well.

#2 Believability

Stonger than you.

When Mark Henry’s theme song hits the arena blaring the words ‘Somebody’s gonna get their a** kicked’, a first time viewer will definitely belive it. Actually, an ardent fan will believe that as well. Henry commands such a presence. We’ve already talked about his reputation and how legit it is. Actually, why his heel run has been so monumental in his career is because of the fact that he was playing a part which was completely compatible with his reputation.

It was all quite believable. The Hall of Pain seemed a fatal place to be a part of.

#1 Loyalty

The Veteran

At this point in Henry’s career, it seems he’ll stay with the WWE till the very end. Be it as a wrestler or a trainer, he started his wrestling career with the WWE and he sure as well looks like he’ll finish with them.

Injuries may have been a roadblock but Henry’s been there, much like Kane, whenever it comes to putting over talent. He’ll even sell a beating by ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar. And Brock Lesnar will look like a beast after slaying a man like Mark Henry.

And also, he’s stayed with the company despite the angle with Mae Young and their ‘hand’ and the sexual chocolate gimmick.
