5 WWE Superstars with no storyline heading into 2016

Bo Dallas may “Bo-lieve” but he doesn’t appear for many meaningful matches.

Adam Rose has tried a few gimmicks in WWE programming.WWE programming has been criticized a lot recently based on ratings and the overall quality of the product. While many fans have ideas for how the shows could get better, a common refrain is that the talent level of today’s roster isn’t what it used to be.In reality, though, there are plenty of superstars who aren’t being used well or, in some cases, used at all. Some of them, like Adam Rose and Neville, have shown inklings of a story in recent weeks, we are left to wonder what the plans are for some others. Here are five such superstars:

#5 Bo Dallas

Bo Dallas may “Bo-lieve” but he doesn’t appear for many meaningful matches.

Bo Dallas is an interesting man for this list because he’s really never had much of a storyline. Sure, his “Bo-lieve” gimmick has earned him some comic relief spots in TV programming, but Dallas hasn’t had a real singles feud for months and has never had one that held much significance.

The WWE creative team has avoided pairing Dallas with real-life brother Bray Wyatt, but there’s not much reason they couldn’t come up with something for him to do besides jobbing for faces.

It would be hard to Bo-lieve that he couldn’t establish a more meaningful role.

#4 Curtis Axel

Curtis Axel has had a couple humorous gimmicks this year.

Even if Curtis Axel hasn’t had the most successful year, he’s done his part to entertain WWE fans. After he was attacked on the way to the ring for the Royal Rumble in January, Axel used that lack of an elimination to ride all the way to an Axelmania gimmick that played off Hulk Hogan’s character.

While it certainly wasn’t original, the character was fairly entertaining and made for a good change of pace. Since Hogan’s troubles led to his removal from WWE material and programming in July, Axel has been on the shelf, and that doesn’t seem likely to change as the calendar turns.

#3 Damien Sandow

Damien Sandow has been entertaining in multiple roles in WWE.

Damien Sandow has found ways to steal the show in WWE that most wouldn’t think possible. His role as stunt double for The Miz went from amusing to downright entertaining, and the Meta Powers schtick was going places until it ended unfortunately early.

Now the former tag team champion and Money in the Bank winner has been completely absent from WWE television programming for months except for the occasional group scene. Sandow and similar performers, if used wisely, could really beef up the mid-card ranks heading into 2016 and free up other performers for pushes and main-event level feuds.

#2 Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks was the NXT women’s champion before getting called up to the main roster.

There has perhaps never been a female wrestler whose arrival on the main WWE roster was as highly anticipated as Sasha Banks’ was. A former NXT women’s champion, Banks’ name has been chanted in arenas across the country for the last couple months.

Yet the WWE creative team has been hesitant to use her. Sure, she’s had matches – unlike some others on this list – but she has not had a meaningful singles feud since she arrived on Raw.

Seems the Divas Revolution has left something to be desired with regard to the Legit Boss.

#1 Big Show

Few men have changed sides more times than the Big Show has in his WWE career.

For a while, the Big Show’s very presence on WWE’s shows drew audible displeasure from crowds across the country. Still, the man has had a major role in professional wrestling for most of the last two decades, and he’s been noticeably absent in recent weeks.

Although most fans cringed when he was Roman Reigns’ first-round opponent in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament, surely the WWE could find a mid-card feud for the gigantic veteran.

After all, the creative team has never been shy about switching his allegiances, so the options are wide open.
