The game of cricket has undoubtedly transformed over the years. The innovations have always aided the game in some way or the other. However, the entertainment value of cricket seems to have rocketed sky-high after the inception of T20 cricket. The slam-bang version of the gentleman’s game has metamorphosed cricket like nothing else. From cheerleaders to stump microphones to players wearing microphones on the field, the shortest format of the game has given cricket a whole new dimension altogether. The players talking to commentators while on the field surely ups the entertainment quotient as the viewers get a live view of what a player is thinking about during a particular juncture of a match. It also adds to the fun quotient as well.A character like Andrew Flintoff singing on the microphone or a certain Virender Sehwag humming a popular Hindi song before whacking a delivery for six, things like these entertain the audience like nothing else and here are five such moments:

#1 Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag is a unique character by all means. The man doesn’t think for a second before trying to hit the ball towards the boundary, even when standing on a score of 295. This man’s approach to the game is unique.

There were always some stories about his singing while he batted. He gave a glimpse of that in an exhibition match between Sachin’s Blasters and Warne’s Warriors in the Cricket All-Stars Series 2015.

He was humming a popular Hindi song called ‘Tu jane na’ from a Bollywood movie titled ‘Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani’ and then he hit the bowler Allan Donald for a towering six in his usual style.

Well, that’s what you call multitasking.

#2 Andrew Flintoff

The English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff was truly a colourful character that graced the game of cricket. He was full of life and was never shy of having a go at the opposition, either with the ball or with the bat or even with his words too.

The man who helped England regain the Ashes after 18 years with exemplary performances both with the bat and the ball, also sang a few lines from Elvis Presley’s ‘In the Ghetto’ on the microphone during a Big Bash game while playing for the Brisbane Heat in Australia.

That surely was pure entertainment for all the fans across the globe.

#3 Aaron Finch

Aussies are known for their sledging. They always make it a point to play tough cricket. But what if an Australian player sledges his fellow Australian teammate on air.

Well, that just happened in a Big Bash game down under, when Australian opener Aaron Finch sledged his Australian teammate Glenn Maxwell. Finch was representing the Renegades team whereas Maxwell was playing for the Melbourne Stars. Finch with the microphone sarcastically spoke about Maxwell’s batting position as he said ,”Slippery Pole Maxy, from number 3 to number six, then out of the team.”

Maxwell responded well by hitting a boundary as the commentators were warning Finch. However, Finch had the last laugh as Maxwell mistimed a pull shot and got out.

Well, that’s what you call playing tough, even against your teammate too.

#4 Glenn McGrath

The Australian legend Glenn McGrath in his playing days used to sledge a lot. He was always ready for a word or two with the opposition batsman. McGrath however in an exhibition game between the Australian Cricketers' Association XI and the Australian XI at Brisbane in 2009, showed glimpses of his class as he spoke about how he was going to get Warner out in his next ball to the commentators live on the microphone.

He said that the ball would hopefully deck across the batsman David Warner and he would give an edge which the keeper Adam Gilchrist will accept gleefully. Well, that exactly happened.

Well, that’s what you call chutzpah. McGrath surely showed it.

#5 Shane Warne

The Australian spin legend Shane Warne was a master of his art. Apart from being one of the greatest spinners of all time, he was a master tactician too. He used to outsmart the batsmen with his thinking, he used to read the batsmen’s mind and set a trap for them.

In a Big Bash Game in Australia, Shane showed his command over the game by saying what he was going to bowl to Brendon McCullum. Shane actually spoke about the plan, and then also added that he was going to bowl a straight one to McCullum.

Well, Warne did McCullum in as the latter was bowled through his legs.
