7 instances when Zlatan Ibrahimovic owned reporters with his witty replies

Zlatan

“Who is the judge? The judge is God.”“Why is he God? Because he decides who wins or loses. Not my opponent.”“Who is your opponent? He does not exist.”“Why does he not exist? Because he is a mere dissenting voice of the truth I speak!”Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn’t speak. He demands. In this modern era, words are cheap. People don’t think before speaking up, and even when they do, their words end up like several of those unheard voices that no one simply cares about. Zlatan, however, is different. Never have I ever seen a more determined footballer than Ibrahimovic be an alpha figure wherever he goes. Also read: Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Best QuotesThe above dialogue is from the movie The Great Debaters, and tell me if I’m wrong that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wouldn’t be a picture-perfect debater. His witty responses and astute answers have often left journalists speechless, which isn’t really an easy thing to do, unless, of course, the journalist in question is a total nutjob. In this slideshow, we bring you 10 such instances when the Swedish striker owned reporters!

#1 \"So you know better football than me?\"

Zlatan

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 win over Rennes at the Parc des Princes earlier this February, a French journalist asked the Swede about the rumours regarding a fall-out between him and his team-mate Edinson Cavani.

“A lot of people have been talking about your relationship with Edinson Cavani [and how it has worsened] since his arrival?” asked the reporter to which Zlatan replied with raised eyebrows, “A lot of people or you?”

The question seems to have upset Zlatan and he was not shy of expressing his frustration at the journalist. Knowing how outspoken Zlatan is, he not only managed to shoot the journalist’s question down, he went onto to tear his strip off!

#2 \"Please my friend, stop!\"

zlatan ibrahimovic reporters

February seems to be the month Zlatan loathes the most. Speaking to reporters following PSG’s 1-1 draw against Lyon, Ibrahimovic was agitated when a reporter questioned the Swedish striker on how he felt after scoring after two months.

The reporter was factually incorrect as Zlatan had scored against St. Etienne back in January and was corrected by the striker himself. Zlatan being Zlatan didn’t stop there.

Please, my friend! Stop. If you don’t know your information don’t talk to me,” he added as he stormed out

#3 \"Come to my house and youll see if Im gay.\"

Reporters in Spain are known to be persuasive in a not-so-intelligent way, and this wasn’t any different. This was during the time when Ibrahimovic was still playing for Barcelona, and a rather ‘intimate’ photo of him and his teammate Gerard Pique had surfaced on the internet.

A female reporter joked that Zlatan was homosexual while asking him what he thought of the photo. We all know at this point that Zlatan isn’t one of those people who lets things slide.

“Come to my house and you’ll see if I’m gay. And bring your sister,” said Zlatan. Of course, the reporter had no comeback.

#4 \"USA! Yes. A big joke.\"

Zlatan

Now, this isn’t your typical Zlatan Ibrahimovic-quality ownage, and that is understandable given it’s a TMZ reporter we are dealing with here. With Sweden not playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup after failing to qualify following a defeat against Portugal in the playoffs, Zlatan was enjoying his time off in the United States of America.

And, like a big joke that American tabloid TMZ has become, one of their local reporters asked the Swedish striker if it was hard watching the World Cup while not playing in it, before asking him who he thought would win the tournament.

Zlatan, who looked both irritated and accosted in the street, replied saying “USA.”

When asked if it was joke, he followed up saying, “Yeah, a big joke!”

#5 The fans are alright

The fans aren’t all that bad and Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows that. While in an airport, Zlatan came across a reporter who he refused to talk to. However, he didn’t treat the fans in the same way as he was seen taking photographs with them, even taking the time to hold a lady’s newborn baby.

This is how the conversation went:

Reporter: Ibra, what do you think of the game? (in Spanish)

Ibra: I already spoke. (in Italian)

Reporter: What did you think of the referees? (in Spanish)

Ibra: ...

Reporter: Did you say that now you understand (Jose) Mourinho? (in Spanish)

Ibra: Do you speak Italian? (in Italian)

Reporter: Yes. (in Spanish)

Ibra: Then speak Italian, because I don't speak Spanish. (in Italian)

Reporter: You don't speak Spanish, huh? (in Spanish)

(Zlatan holds a lady’s baby and poses for photos)

Ibra: I don't understand... In Italian, please.

Reporter: Okay, Italian. Please respond, it's Italian. (in Italian)

Ibra: Now in Swedish. You need to speak Swedish. (in Italian)

#6 \"Zlatan is the boss\"

zlatan

Another incident from the month of February makes me wonder if Zlatan was really trying to start a trend there.

After PSG’s 1-0 win against Lille in the semi-finals of the French Cup, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his teammates ignore eager reporters in the media center at the Parc de Princes stadium, saying, “Follow me. Follow me. Nobody talks.”

“Why nobody talk, Zlatan?” asked an innocent reporter.

Now you definitely must know Zlatan’s answer to that.

#7 \"We\'ll put you in midfield\"

Peter Jihde, a Swedish television host and sports reporter on TV4, was left speechless during an interview with Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Swedish national team had just lost a match. Jihde, who seemed to have irritated Zlatan with his long list of questions, wasn’t expecting a reply like that when he had asked the striker what he felt they should do to play the ball around.

Zlatan, being Zlatan, replied saying, “We are going to put you in midfield so that you can boss around. Ask the coach!”

Jihde was served right there, and “Okay, thank you very much, Zlatan...” is all that man could mutter.
