Dortmund’s dominance over Bayern and resurgence as a German giant continued as Klopp’s men humiliated Jupp Heynckes’ side 5-2, to claim the ‘German double’ having already wrapped up the Bundesliga crown.
Bayern, who had booked their place in the Champions League final at home against Chelsea, aimed at a getting a confidence boost ahead of the Champions League final by claiming the title. However, Dortmund had something else in store for them.
The Black and Yellows were in the lead right in the 3rd minute itself through Shinji Kagawa but Arjen Robben levelled the game with a penalty midway through the first half.
Mats Hummels restored Dortmund's lead minutes later before Robert Lewandowski increased it in first half stoppage time. The Pole then added his second with a thunderous finish just before the hour mark that seemed to put the trophy well beyond Bayern's reach.
Franck Ribery ignited a late surge for Die Roten with an excellent solo effort but Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the dying moments to put the game beyond Jupp Heynckes' men.
Dortmund won the double for the first time in their 103-year history making this campaign as one of their best ever.
