Huge names leaked for the WWE Hall Of Fame class of 2016

The legendary Fabulous Freebirds

Five names have been supposedly leakedEver since Sting was announced as the first inductee into the WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2016, there has been a notable amount of buzz about the names that are set to follow the Icon.According to reports coming in from WhatCulture, a well-placed source – who is high-up backstage in the WWE– revealed the remaining names that have been talked about for the accolade. While, for some of these stars, the induction should have come years ago and are long overdue, there are a few surprising names also that have sprung up. Although the names have been leaked by a backstage source, it should be taken as a rumor until WWE make it official. So here’s list of the names revealed for this year’s Hall Of Fame class.

#1 The Fabulous Freebirds

The legendary Fabulous Freebirds

The first name – that has been talked about for years now – is that of Michael Hayes, who was part of the legendary Fabulous Freebirds. At the moment, it is still not sure whether the Freebirds would go into the HOF or just Hayes.

Two of the members, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts are no more, and considering WWE being apprehensive about inducting deceased people, they may not make it to the HOF. Jimmy Garvin, a member of the Freebirds, could be inducted along with Hayes.

The induction ceremony being in Dallas, and the contribution of the Freebirds in the wrestling territory of Dallas makes it a no-brainer for the WWE to induct the pioneers.

#2 Regis Philbin

Philbin with the Undertaker and Paul Bearer

The Hall Of Fame is not just inclusive to accomplished wrestlers of the business, but also for the influential figures from other walks of life who’ve been a part of the WWE in some or the other way.

In spite of the widespread criticism that the WWE garners for the celebrity wing, they make it a point to induct one big name from outside the world of wrestling – Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mike Tyson and Mr.T being a few.

Television host Regis Philbin would be the one to join the other celebrities in the Hall Of Fame this year. Many WWE stars have been on Regis’s show, and while staying in character and true to kayfabe, have given interviews.

By this, Regis helped promote upcoming pay-per-views and is an ardent fan of the WWE. What further validates the induction is the fact that Philbin has been the guest commentator for the Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter match at WrestleMania VII.

#3 Jacqueline Moore

Moore is a two-time Women’s Champion

As the induction ceremony is in Dallas, it is only fitting to honor the Dallas-born Jacqueline Moore with the coveted spot in the Hall Of Fame. A Diva getting into the Hall Of Fame is a norm, something that puts the focus on the fairer sex of the business and also creates the balancing effect.

It can be argued that Moore’s resume and skills don’t match up to that of her peers that have made it into the HOF, but WWE has no other option and would be playing the hometown card in her case.

Jacqueline is a two-time WWE Women’s Champion – something that she helped reestablish, and also is a one time Cruiserweight champion.

#4 Charles Wright (The Godfather, Papa Shango and Kama)

Thankfully for Wright, The Godfather clicked after a host of failed gimmicks

Attitude Era was brash and in your face, and Godfather’s character amplified every bit of it. Watching him walk down the ramp with hordes of women (hoes) on either side coupled with the catchphrases – that stuck like glue and were reciprocated with ease – made wrestlers look hip.

Despite being a horrendous worker, Wright would make it to the Hall Of Fame all because of his character taking off. After countless gimmicks that tanked bad, the Godfather persona clicked and saved a career in Wright.

He would have been long gone from the WWE if it would not have been for his close friend Undertaker. He is a one time Intercontinental Champion and tag team Champion.

#5 John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL)

JBL is set to receive the much-deserved accolade of being a HOFer

A name that needs no introduction, thanks to his current role as a color commentator, JBL’s name was eventually going to go into the Hall Of Fame.

Well, 2016 is the year for the Texas native, who has had a great career – both as a tag team competitor with the Acolyte Protection Agency (APA) along with Farooq and as a singles star, that included a lengthy reign as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

He was instrumental in putting over a budding John Cena and could draw heat at the drop of a hat, making him one of the greatest heels of the Ruthless Aggression Era. The Hall Of Fame tag is well deserved for JBL, who would be inducted in his hometown of Texas.
