Worst Haircuts at the 2014 FIFA World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is football's greatest extravaganza, coming once in every four years. Players who are fortunate to qualify for the event, try to impress fans and prospective buyers with their skills on the pitch. But a few aim at grabbing attention at this major event with their crop. Here's a list of 10 footballers who have made really bad choices about their haircuts. Have a look at the 10 Worst Haircuts at the 2014 World Cup. Any one of you brave enough to sport any of these looks?

#10 Paul Pogba (France)

Why have one bleached stripe on the side, when you can have two of those beauties. Talented France midfielder has garnered praises from several former greats regarding his performances in Brazil. France legend Zinadine Zidane was generous in his praises of the Juventus star. But his style sense seems to be a bit too flashy. What else would you expect when you walk around in a Mario Balotelli-esque haircut. Not everyone can be Mario, in terms of carrying off outrageous haircuts, so 'why always him?'

#9 Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Cameroon)

Cameroon left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto seems to be sporting the poor-man's Marouanne Fellaini look. The Tottenham defender wants the world to appreciate his afro, and what better occasion than the World Cup. He even tried to demonstrate its soft and lush feel to teammate Benjamin Moukandjo, when he headbutted him during Cameroon's 4-0 loss to Croatia in the Group stages.

#8 Kyle Beckerman (USA)

US midfielder Kyle Beckerman sports some really scary dreadlocks at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil. The 32-year-old seems to have been too inspired by Bob Marley and the Reggae revolution. For Beckerman, more than Marley's inspiring lyrics, he needs a good hair brush.

#7 Serey Die (Ivory Coast)

Just a mohawk would have been good enough for Ivory Coast midfielder Serey Die, but he went a step further with a bleached mohawk. The Basel midfielder is a comparatively new entrant into the Ivory Coast side, making his debut in 2013. During their opening Group C fixture against Colombia at the World Cup, Die was pictured crying during the national anthem. The 29-year-old was playing in his first World Cup match and seemed to be overwhelmed by the occasion. You don't want us crying after seeing your haircut right Serey?, so please change it.

#6 Arturo Vidal (Chile)

The Chile midfielder has several layers on his current crop. A mohawky tuft in the centre, and razor-sliced designs to follow. The haircut makes the Juventus man look like a Latin thug on a football pitch. For someone who earns € 4 million in salary every year, Vidal need to spend more in hunt for a better hairstylist.

#5 Asamoah Gyan (Ghana)

Asamoah Gyan wears the number 3 jersey for Ghana, in case you forgot. Because he keeps you reminding that with his haircut. The former Sunderland striker has the number 3 design on his head at the side. Gyan you have been around for Ghana a long time, 11 years and 82 caps to be precise. Thus we won't forget to notice your jersey number, kudos for the effort anyways.

#4 Bacary Sagna (France)

No bad haircuts list is complete with France right-back Bacary Sagna. The 31-year-old has been sporting his quintessential locks for a long time now. Arsene Wenger may have rated him as the best right-back in the English Premier League, but believe me Bacary, that haircut isn't.

#3 Dani Alves (Brazil)

Dani Alves and Neymar are teammates in both Brazil and Barcelona sides. So no doubt they must have turned buddies over the years. But do buddies copy each other's hairstyles? Alves seems to give it a try. The 31-year-old has taken a lot of inspiration from Selecao teammate Neymar. Alves does the same side-shaved and bleached crop look that Neymar sports. But unfortunately, the look doesn't suit him at all. Try something original Dani!

#2 Raul Meireles (Portugal)

Portugal's Raul Meireles could easily go back in time and join an army of Vikings. Those Norse seafarers and warriors of the 8th to late 11th centuries AD, may have sent one amongst them 1000 years into the future aka Raul Meireles. The Fenerbahce midfielder has a thick unknempt beard and also carries a very bad attempt at a mohawk.

#1 Rodrigo Palacio (Argentina)

Who is Rodrigo Palacio's hairstylist?, he/she needs to be fired, immediately. The Argentina striker has been playing at the 2014 World Cup, with a haircut that looks like, to think about it, like a rat's tail. The Inter Milan striker thanks to his crop, is getting attention in Brazil for all wrong reasons. Memes about Palacio's hairstyle has been aplenty on social networking site Twitter. Lionel Messi may be gathering the bouquets for his heroics in the World Cup, but the virtual brickbats are all reserved for Palacio, or to be more specific 'his hair'.
