Triple H and CM Punk in 2011Many believe this to be the right time for Triple H to take over primary running power behind the World Wrestling Entertainment. But you don't just make it to the top of the ladder without any controversies.He may be the driving force behind the biggest success story in the WWE right now but there have been many things that he still either needs to answer or work out through. He hasn't had a great reputation until NXT became successful. Right now, Hunter is basking in its glory, but here are 5 reasons why Triple H may have killed his legacy
#5 The Questions regarding Chyna
This is an established fact that Chyna and Triple H once dated. The story goes that he was seeing Stephanie McMahon behind her back. There have been accusations by Chyna that she was physically assaulted by him.
When Stone Cold Steve Austin asked Triple H about Chyna and whether she’ll be ever inducted into the Hall of Fame, he did not really have a logical answer to it. After having people like Mike Tyson, who has been accused of rape, Jimmy Snuka, who has been questioned about his involvement in the murder of his girlfriend, get inducted into the HOF,Triple H’s reason for citing Chyna’s career in non-PG films to be the reason behind her not being in the Hall of Fame is clearly contradicting.
#4 Scheduling
Justin Roberts was with the WWE for 10 whole years before he was released by the company in 2014. He has been working on his autobiography and for someone who has been there during the rise of Triple H’s backstage influence in the company, he’s had a lot to say about the negatives in Hunter handling business.
This is what he had to say when Triple H was thought of as the best choice to move the company forward-
“We all thought that too, until he started running things. Paul started overseeing a bunch of divisions and one of them was live events. When he took over, our live events schedule was brutal. We'd start in one place and flew all over. Since he used to be one of the boys on the road, we thought he'd stand up and stop that, and he didn't. The schedule got worse.”
#3 The Shovel
There has been much talk about the imaginary shovel that Triple H carries around with him. He’s been accused of burying a lot of superstars and there have been many who have witnessed that or gone through the same fate.
Daniel Bryan may have been the only wrestler that many think rose above the pressure backstage to squash them.
But the reason behind Zack Ryder’s loss of momentum has been blamed on The Game. Ryder is just amongst the many others. CM Punk is one of them as well, but we’ll get to it later.
#2 Favouritism
There are some protocol WWE guys who have the look that WWE wants to sell. Triple H taking over NXT and booking Zayn, Owens and Balor the way he did counters this belief in the protocol.
But all hardcore fans are wary of Triple H’s favouritism backstage whether it comes to pushing guys like Orton or Sheamus, if Triple H has set his mind for this superstar to be the vision of the future, he always favours them.
Also, his knack of getting in every grand storyline and having long, pointless monologues also doesn’t help.
#1 The CM Punk issue
Whether it is about not putting Punk over in 2011 or stealing the idea of The Shield or making Punk face him at Wrestlemania 30- Punk has claimed that he and Triple H have never shared good vibes.
Triple H claimed in the Stone Cold podcast that he’s never had any issues with Punk which led many rumors swirling around that many in the company don’t believe it one bit.
Punk’s views about Hunter were rumoured to have been met positively by many wrestlers backstage.
And given how honest Punk has been and how many former and current wrestlers respect him, you have to believe that there is much truth in his statements.
