6 Realistic opponents for the Undertaker at WrestleMania 32

One last time?

Who’ll join him on the biggest stage of them all? Here’s what happens when there isn’t an opponent picked to face Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.The speculation of his next opponent sends fans and the IFC into a frenzy.Daily Wrestling News writes that the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials have finalized the WrestleMania 32 main events and they have decided on who The Undertaker will face but we don’t know who that person is. It was said that Taker’s opponent is not someone on the roster right now.So who can it be? The rumor mill has been running on all eight cylinders since the announcement was made, which all but eliminates such current stars as Kane, Sheamus, Kevin Owens and John Cena. Speculation has been a veteran may come back to the company as part of a “retirement” type match. Those rumors have not been confirmed as of yet.WWE officials had hoped it would be Cena who was across the ring from the Deadman, and that the shoulder that has surgery before the end of the year would have healed enough to tear the walls down in Dallas. That now appears highly unlikely.Who could the opponent be? Who could be the one to bring wrestling fans to their feet in the biggest event of the wrestling calendar? Here are a few names we all should consider.

#6 Shawn Michaels

One last time?

I cannot get this one out of my head. I know Michaels has been retired and has not made any overtures about getting back in the ring, but this could be the golden nugget WWE needs to send ‘Taker off to retirement. Michaels retired Ric Flair and now has the chance to be in the last match of his rival’s career.

It makes for great theater.

Michaels is considered the greatest performer in WrestleMania history and what better way to showcase Dallas than to have the San Antonio native challenge Undertaker one more time in an epic battle? Fans would surely approve of this one.

#5 Samoa Joe/Sami Zayn

This would be a smart choice, keeping the future of the main roster in mind

Or possibly another name from NXT.

Personally, I want to see both superstars in the ring at Mania, possibly against each other. But for the sake of making a name for themselves and getting over on the main stage, wouldn’t it be nice to see ‘Taker put one of them over in Dallas?

Zayn makes a whole lot of sense, given his persona. Joe makes even more sense given his is a big man who should have already been on WWE’s main roster. There has been talk that both superstars will be called up to Stamford after Dallas, but it was said AJ Styles would do the same thing after the Royal Rumble. We all know how that turned out.

#4 Kurt Angle

Angle is still interested in joining the WWE

So much was written last year how Angle wanted another run with WWE when his contract with TNA expired. It was written that Triple H essentially slammed the door in his face when there was an inquiry.

Would Angle come back to the company where he started for one final run or for one final match?

Angle said before he retired, he wanted to face Daniel Bryan in his final match. That won’t happen now that Bryan has announced his retirement, which leaves us wondering if Angle has another opponent in mind he would like to face. Undertaker would be a solid choice.

#3 Steve Austin

Two Texan WWE legends

Austin has said over and over again that he’s done in the ring. He has nothing left to prove. While we wanted to see the Texas Rattlesnake in the ring with Brock Lesnar in Dallas, we all know that isn’t going to happen. Regardless of what he says and repeats, this is a business of lies and deception.

Austin-Undertaker would certainly get plenty of attention, but who would carry whom in this match? The fear in this kind of a confrontation is the hype certainly overshadows the match and fans are left disappointed at both superstars.

We can hope, however, that Austin changes his mind.

#2 Goldberg

This match will take a lot of practice

Of all the potential veterans to make a return to the ring, this one might be the most logical. And it might be the most talked about.

Goldberg has never been one to shy away from the potential of getting back in the ring one more time. WWE needs a big name to come through and excite the fans with a potential blockbuster match. We do not know how rusty Goldberg is, or if he can carry his end of this kind of match.

Reports have been circulating that Undertaker has been training like a beast and could carry his end of a match, regardless of who his opponent may be. Would he have to carry Goldberg as well?

#1 Sting

The Icon vs the Phenom?

We know nothing about Sting’s progress from an injury he suffered at Night of Champions and if he will ever get in a wrestling ring again. But Meltzer put this out there in his comments the other day, so maybe we should examine it.

Sting-Undertaker is a match we hoped and prayed for about a decade ago when both wrestlers were still in their prime. It’s the Ali-Frazier confrontation that has yet to happen. Will the “Icon” be cleared by medical staff to get in the ring one more time and face the most respected man in the WWE locker room? And if this happens, will the match live up to the hype – not just the new hype, but the hype created 10 years ago?
