WWE Battleground 2014: 3 Possible endings for the WWE Championship match

For the second consecutive pay–per–view, the WWE has decided to go with a multiple man match to determine the WWE World heavyweight champion. At Battleground it would be John Cena, Roman Reigns, Kane and Randy Orton going at it for the WWE title with a lot of subplots to follow. The Authority’s backing of Randy Orton to get the job done and avoid Reigns and Cena from winning the title would be the top one from the lot. Also the potential friction between Orton and Kane while Seth Rollins lurk around with the Money in the Bank contract makes up other levels for the match. The ending of this match will directly expose the plans that WWE has in place for SummerSlam. So here is a look at the three possible endings for the match.

#3 Seth Rollins cashing in

Money in the Bank winner cashing in his contract on the champion and walking out with the title is something that is bound to happen when someone wins the ladder match.

Seth Rollins is having the luxury of that contract right now and with since he is backed by the Authority, he is almost guaranteed to successfully cash in that briefcase. The only question that remains is when he will have his bit moment.

It might be too early to say this, but if the company wants to let Rollins stay here for the long run, they should let him win at Battleground. This will book a ticket for Rollins to main event SummerSlam where the company could just make it a triple threat if they think Rollins it not a big enough star.

He has the talents to be main eventing big pay–per–views like SummerSlam and instead of having two big names deliver a bad match, the company could just add Seth Rollins as an insurance and make sure fans who loves great action between the ropes are satisfied.

#2 Cena winning without many problems

It’s the worst case scenario but since Cena pulled off the same at Money in the Bank, it’s an ending which cannot be left out of the possibilities.

Though Cena is involved in the Authority angle to some extent, the whole thing still revolves around Roman Reigns and his friction with Triple H. This might make Hunter more concern about Roman Reigns winning rather than Cena.

So Reigns is likely to play party spoiler for Kane and Randy Orton leaving Cena un attended and able to make use of the opportunity.

A fair win for Cena is not the ideal ending which the WWE fans will be looking forward to but it’s one of those angles that will help WWE in the long run.

Roman Reigns would come directly in the mix with Randy Orton while Cena would look strong heading into SummerSlam where he can have his big match.

#1 Plan B - Lesnar returns

Hunter put John Cena in a fatal four way match at Battleground to make sure that he drops the title at the pay–per–view. And if he doesn’t, Hunter revealed that there is a plan B in place to make sure that the title belongs to the Authority.

On a narrow angle, Seth Rollins might be projected as the potential plan B but since Lesnar is rumored to face Cena at SummerSlam, the man who broke the streak would be the ideal person to be Hunter’s triumph card.

Lesnar could either come in and end the whole match by attacking John Cena or take out the champion after he retains the title in grueling match.

Either way, WWE will be building up a match between Lesnar and Cena for SummerSlam. Lesnar and Heyman aligning with the Authority is going to make them more stronger and is sure to attract more heat from the WWE Universe.
