WWE Hall Of Fame 2016: 10 awkward moments of the Hall of Famers you've probably forgotten

Hansen was known for his stiff work

The dream showdown has already happened! The Hall of Fame Class of 2016 is almost complete. As we are just days away from the ceremony, the entire WWE family are preparing themselves for the emotional moments that the induction ceremony is accustomed to offering. The thing about Hall of Fame ceremonies is that they only accentuate the positives of one’s career. It is a celebration of all the good things that happened in someone’s wrestling career, even though typical wrestlers enjoy a roller coaster ride. Here are some of the things about this year’s Hall of Famers that we may have forgotten:

#10 The Stan Hansen Hoax of Promoters

Hansen was known for his stiff work

Hansen was a superstar known for his stiff working. The reputation kickstarted during the initial part of his wrestling career and it was actually a hoax that helped him cement such a reputation.

In 1976, Hansen started working for World Wide Wrestling Federation and was put into a feud with the World Champion Bruno Sammartino.

During the match, Hansen broke Sammartino’s neck after a botched power bomb. The promoters claimed that Sammartino’s neck was broken by the power of Stansen’s lariat. This boosted Hansen’s reputation and he was built up as a fearful wrestler in the territories.

#9 Jacqueline held the Cruiserweight championship

Jacqueline was the Cruiserweight champion

The Cruiserweight championship is clearly not one of the titles that WWE took seriously. Keeping it on the shelf for such a long time is ample proof of WWE’s disregard towards the title.

Although the level of credibility for the title was not high, WWE always kept the title on male superstars. It was a championship designed for men and a woman winning it is indeed something that the company would want us to forget.

Jacqueline achieved this when she defeated Chavo Guerrero. She is the only woman to hold the title under the WWE banner whereas two other women have held it under the WCW banner.

#8 Sting rejected WWE numerous times

Sting rejected WWE on multiple occasions

Ever since WCW folded, wrestling fans were eager to see Sting in WWE. While names like Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, and a string of other WCW superstars took up the WWE option, Sting decided that it was not the right direction to go.

Sting apparently was not impressed with the direction that WWE was going and chose to stay away from the product as it was against his values.

Instead, Sting went and joined TNA, which is another thing WWE would want us to forget. WWE barely mentions the existence of TNA and considering that Sting is a member of the TNA Hall of Fame, WWE would want us to erase this very portion of his life from our memories.

#7 The Antics of Big Boss man with Pepper The Chihuahua

Violence against animals is a sensitive topic these days and it was a sensitive topic back in the day too. WWE did not take this into account when they wrote the storyline for The Big Boss Man and Al Snow.

The feud involved Snow’s pet chihuahua, Pepper, and as part of the feud, Boss Man was seen throwing the carrier that carried Pepper. Jim Ross later apologized for the act and cleared that Pepper had been removed from the carrier before the throw happened.

Later, Big Boss Man was seen feeding Al Snow a meat dish which apparently had the remains of Pepper. It was an insane storyline, to say the least.

#6 Godfathers Ho train

The guy had a Hoe train

Charles Wright, during his time in the wrestling business played numerous gimmicks. He wrestled as Papa Shango, Kama Mustapha and a couple of other gimmicks, but he is going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for The Godfather gimmick.

The Godfather gimmick was actually that of a pimp. He used to be surrounded with ‘hoes’ that he would offer his opponents for any purpose if they would forfeit the match.

Lita and Victoria were once part of the Ho train of the Godfather and it is something that the current WWE product would not want to be part of. Such a set-up is not at all PG, making it worth forgetting according to the WWE.

#5 The Godfather runs a strip club

He runs a strip club currently

While the history of The Godfather is really a problem for the PG environment of the current WWE product, his present venture is also a big headache.

He is currently the manager of a strip club in Las Vegas named the Cheetah’s. The Strip club is famous for its appearance in the movie ‘Showgirls’. The club has been tangled in a string of other controversies as well.

WWE once claimed that they did not want to induct Chyna into the Hall of Fame because they did not want some kid to search on Google and stumble upon her porn career. Apparently, WWE has no problems with kids searching for Godfather and finding out that he had a Hoe train and is managing a strip club.

#4 The Funeral of Big Shows father

Believe it or not, Big Boss Man has had some high profile feuds during his career.

He has locked horns with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Rock and some others. His WWE Championship feud with Big Show in 2000 was supposed to go into the list of greats but instead, it ended up being a feud that WWE wants us to forget.

During this feud, Big Boss Man showed up at the funeral of Big Show’s father and chained the casket to his car and drove off. In an attempt to get hold of the casket, Big Show jumped on top of it before he lost his grip and fell off.

It was a segment that looked funny on the whole but at the same time, it was completely disrespectful like most of the WWE attitude era angles.

#3 The Sting character is ripped off from a movie

His gimmick was a rip-off

Sting is a cult character in the wrestling business. The reason why he stands out from most of the wrestlers of his generation is because of this gimmick and not many are aware that it was actually ripped off from a movie.

Sting initially wrestled in WCW with spiked hair and coloured face, but in 1996, after the release of The Crow, Sting adopted a different look.

The Crow was a big success as a film and Sting immediately pounced on the same. The gimmick was the idea of Scott Hall and in its initial period, Sting barely spoke to add that extra bit of mystery to his character.

#2 Sting already wrestled the Undertaker

The dream match already happened

The Undertaker vs. Sting match is still a dream for most of the wrestling fans out there. We would still empty our pockets to see this match. Most of the fans have an impression that it would be the first time that these two would battle if the match did happen.

However, this isn’t true. Undertaker and Sting have wrestled once before.

The match happened back in 1990 when Sting was the NWA World Heavyweight champion. Undertaker was wrestling as ‘Mean’ Mark Callous and they battled in a house show in Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro.

They were supposed to have one more match but as Taker soon left for the WWE, the match did not happen.

#1 Undertaker hanged The Big Boss Man at WrestleMania

Facing the Undertaker at WrestleMania is not a small achievement. Big Boss Man was one of those lucky superstars who got to be part of The Phenom’s legendary streak at WrestleMania.

However, the match between Big Boss Man and Undertaker at WrestleMania is something that everyone would love to forget.

It was a Hell in a Cell match between the two and unlike the rest, it barely lasted 10 minutes. And in the last part of the match, Undertaker hanged Big Boss man on the cage and Paul Bearer, who was managing Taker at that time, made the cell to rise up in the air.

Boss man hanged from the top of the cage and it is not something that WWE would show these days.
