The WWE fans who attended the SmackDown tapings to have one last cheer before Money in the Bank were braced with some bad news as the Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett got injured.The injury which is said to be a dislocated shoulder might take the sting of Barretts current run and is almost sure to keep him away from competing in the traditional Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday.It is an awkward situation for everyone and most importantly the company who might be heading to the pay-per-view without a wrestler who mightve been their planned winner. A replacement is to be found soon and here are the possible names that can fill in well.
#5 Adam Rose
Adam Rose came into the main roster with a bang which slowly burnt down away as the time passed. He is stuck in the midcard at the moment with no direction whatsoever and amidst all the chaos that is going through, the company could easily let Rose have some good pay-per-view time.
Taking the gimmick away, Rose is an experienced wrestler that can boost his resume by being part of such a high profile match.
At the same time, since there are potential opponents for Rose in the match that could cover his future. The friction that Zeb Colter and Rose have could also be a great subplot for the match which is shallow at the moment.
#4 Rey Mysterio
The veteran has been out of WWE for some time due to physical problems and a ladder match might not be something to bring him back. However, Mysterio has the experience to come in and perform one great match for the fans.
His name adds some more star power into the match which right now looks a bit depleted if Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are kept apart. At the same time, Mysterio joining lights of Rob Van Dam and Kofi Kingston make the match more exciting.
He might not go on to win the match but the fans would love to see Mysterio under the spotlight once again after being absent for so long.
#3 Rusev
As for now, the Bulgarian brute is having a feud with Big E which might end up in a match at Money in the Bank just like they had one at Payback.
However, if the company is planning to give Rusev the big push in near future, some Money in the bank experience will only aid him. The company gave him the runner up spot against Roman Reigns in the battle royal and something similar would be enough to raise the stock of Rusev.
And if the company wants to extend the feud with Big E, they could also let the former Intercontinental champion interfere in the match and cost Rusev the match which will add more emotions to the angle which could all the way to SummerSlam.
#2 Sami Zayn
Though the company is willing to complete the ladder match lineup with brawlers or technical wrestler, the fans still looks out for the high fliers who could give them some memorable spots.
At the moment, WWE has Kofi Kingston in the match to deliver the same but with a spot open now, they could easily get someone from NXT to complement Kofi. Kalisto has been finding his feet in NXT but he still has a long way to go before being promoted into the main event.
This makes Sami Zayn the best option from NXT. He is an experienced campaigner in the business and has experience of many ladder matches back in the Indy circuit.
A surprise entry and some great spots will be an ideal debut for Zayn in the main roster. He could also spark some feud with any wrestler that will carry him forward as well.
#1 Bo Dallas
From the moment that Bo set his foot in the main roster, he was considered a heel by the creative team. His success with the character in NXT and how the fans loved to hate him was the motivation behind this but Bo soon proved otherwise.
The fans have been accepting him as a face and the way Bo pulls off his promo has been excellent. He doesn’t have a good angle to follow up to Money in the Bank even after being successful recently.
Bo is someone who could flourish in the ladder match circumstance and he proved this at the Battle Royal. WWE could also let Bo win the match if they are high on him and Bo delivering promos with the briefcase in hand would be a treat without any doubt.
