The IconA few weeks before on RAW, Seth Rollins asked Triple H and Stephanie to add his name to the list of elites by unveiling his statue. The power couple agreed to this and the preparations were made. Just when the cloth that veiled the statue went up, the Barclays center erupted with 'Sting' chants.It was the 'Icon' that appeared out of nowhere and shocked everyone. After a long absence, Sting appeared in the squared circle and took out the Champion. He has stuck it to 'The Authority' again and gave a message by holding the WWE Championship signalling that he was on a mission to acquire the title. The same evening after RAW, an official announcement was made that Sting will fight Seth Rollins at the upcoming 'Night of Champions' PPV for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.As part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 5 highlights from Sting's career-

#5 Title vs. Career match at TNA

Sheer dominance

It was on October 22, 2006 that Sting made his thunderous TNA return at the 'Bound for Glory' PPV. In this match, Jeff Jarrett defended his NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Sting with the stipulation that Sting would retire from professional wrestling if he loses the match.

Sting not just won the match but also won his second NWA World Heavyweight title. This was one of the greatest nights for Sting as this marked the beginning of the next 7 years of his dominance in TNA.

#4 Sting vs. Hulk Hogan - Starrcade-1997

The Legendary duo

This match at the Starrcade pay-per-view in 1997 was one of the epic matches in the history of Wrestling, not just for Sting. Two icons took on one another for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Nick Patrick was the special guest referee for this match and he faced some allegations after the match.

Hogan covered Sting after a leg drop and secured a win. However Bret Hart alleged that the count was too fast and restarted the match and this time, Bret himself was the referee. This time, Sting won the match and the title. This later led to some issues and eventually, the title was vacated and Sting won it back in a rematch at SuperBrawl VIII in 1998. This match obviously established Sting as the 'Icon' in the business.

#3 First NWA title win- The Great American Bash 1990

First NWA title victory

1990 was a career defining year for Sting. In this year, at 'The Great American Bash' PPV, Sting competed against Ric Flair in a match for the NWA title. This match went on for 16 minutes and Sting emerged victorious at the end.

The rivalry between Flair and Sting was a famous one but this is very special as Sting won his first ever NWA World Heavyweight Championship. During the closing moments of the match, Sting pinned Flair after countering his Figure-Four Leglock attempt into a small package.

#2 WWE debut

What a night!

This is obviously one of the greatest moments in wrestling history. Don't think it's an over statement! A WCW legend making his WWE debut on a future defining night was something totally unexpected. Sting shocked the world by making his WWE debut at the 2014 Survivor Series PPV. Think about this! Sting came out and took out Triple H and helped Cena and Co. to win the match and made 'The Authority' quit. This later led to Sting's first ever WWE match at WrestleMania 31 against Triple H. Say what you say but this is one of the greatest WWE moments in the recent memory.

This is how it all started

As a WWE fan, you would have been already aware that Sting is a six-time WCW Champion. But do you know when this journey started? This all started in the year 1992 when Sting took on Lex Luger at the SuperBrawl PPV.

No matter how high you climb a ladder, the first step always has its importance. This exactly is the case with Sting's match against Luger. After this match, Luger was out of action for a short span and later made his return to WCW in 1995.
