We will take a look at 5 of the top Randy Orton storylines in the WWE. Orton has been in the WWE for more than a decade now and throughout those years; Orton has managed to stamp his place in the roster as a big main event draw.While most of the wrestler struggle to live up to the bench mark set by their fathers, Orton was someone who surpassed his father and made a name for himself. In his illustrious career in the WWE, Orton has managed to win the WWE title 12 times and also has the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank and Triple Crown to his name.Though he went through a drab period recently, Orton came back strong with the Evolution and once again proved that he belongs in the main event scene.Weve covered some big names so far in the 'Storyline' series and this time its Randy Orton who is under the spotlight.

#5 Prove yourself, against John Cena 2007

Orton had a lot of confrontation with John Cena over the years, but the initial feud that they had still stands out from the rest.

It started when Orton was named the No.1 contender for the WWE championship of Cena. in an attempt to get heat, Orton repeatedly assaulted Cena before their match in SummerSlam which Orton lost.

However, the loss made Orton more vicious as he was willing to go any limits to get a rematch. Orton kicked Cena’s father in the head after Vince McMahon said Orton to prove himself. McMahon was forced to giving Orton a shot after Orton went on attacking people.

But Orton failed to capitalize the opportunity again after he was disqualified against Cena. Orton would then get a match against Cena’s father which gave the fans a cruel sight of Orton destroying Cena’s father while Cena was handcuffed to the ropes. The feud sadly ended after Cena was taken out due to an injury.

#4 Legacy, against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, - 2010

Orton rose to the ranks by being part of a stable member, and six years after that he managed to make one of his own with some second generation superstars by his side.

The angle was a punt kick in the face of everyone that believed they could be a wrestler one day as Orton gave out the message that wrestling should be in one’s blood. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase complemented Orton well by aiding him at various occasions.

However, the friction between the three began getting bad as time went on and the duo started to cost Orton some crucial matches.

This eventually led to the finale between the three which ended in the teacher facing his students in a triple threat match at WrestleMania which Orton won.

#3 Hardcore legend vs. Legend Killer, 2004

As Orton started his run with Evolution, he was hell bound on the Legend killer status. Orton used to have feuds with many legends in the business and the matches they had were billed as the Legend vs. Legend killer matches.

One feud with in particular which stood out from that period was the one that he had with Mick Foley. Foley was semi-retired at that time and had nothing to do with what was happening inside the ring.

However, Orton wanted to add another legend to his resume and couldn’t find anyone better than the hardcore one. He pursued the semi –retired Mick into a match which Foley accepted provided that it was a no rules match for the Intercontinental title that Orton had at the time.

The two then fought a bloody match at Backlash which involved many thumbtacks and Barbwire with Orton coming out on top at the end.

#2 Im going where no wrestler has gone before, against Undertaker- 2005

Once Orton broke up from the Evolution, he took back his Legend killer persona and began scouting for opponents. At the same time, former wrestler Billy Graham said to Orton that in order to be the best he has to do something that no one has done before.

And what Orton saw in front of him was the undefeated streak of Undertaker at WrestleMania. He promised that he will go where no wrestler has gone before and end Taker’s streak.

Taker initially refused the match, but Orton taunted the Phenom into accepting the match even though Orton would run and hide at the very sign of Taker appearing.

Orton did everything in his power at WrestleMania to win the match and even had his father Bob Orton interferes for him. But Taker emerged as the winner and walked out as the winner.

#1 Thumbs down, against Evolution- 2004

The Viper joined Evolution soon after his debut and found some exciting progress alongside the lights of Hunter, Ric Flair and Batista.

However, as Orton rose up and got his hands on the WWE title by beating Chris Benoit, Hunter grew jealous of his student and wanted to take the title away from him. The odds were stacked against Orton as he was going up against three men who he used to call friends.

The feud spanned over months and Orton had to go through Ric Flair and Batista many times to get his hands on Hunter.

He would get the job done against Flair and Batista in various gimmick matches, but when it came to Hunter, Orton struggled till the feud ended after he decided to go and pursue the Undertaker later.
