Top moves of Shawn Michaels

We will take a look at the top moves of Shawn Michaels. The ‘Heart Break Kid’ widely regarded as the greatest in ring performer in the history of the business retired in 2010 after a Wrestlemania rematch with ‘The Undertaker’. Over the years, he has captivated the audience with his performances and time and time again, has given a lot of 5 star matches which made the WWE officially rank him as the greatest superstar ever. Here are his famous moves:

#5 Figure-four leg lock

Inspired from the great Ric Flair, whom Shawn retired in the 2008 edition of Wrestlemania, the figure-four leg lock was the move that Michaels used as a submission maneuver.

He slightly modified it where he proceeds like he is going to be doing a sharpshooter, but instead puts his other leg on the opponent’s foot and then drops down to the mat to apply pressure.

#4 Flying forearm smash with a kip-up

One of those moves which the fans really look forward to when HBK is wrestling is this one where he runs across the ropes, smashes the opponent with his forearm. For a few seconds, both of them will by lying down and Shawn suddenly performs the kip-up much to the delight of the audience.

He famously performed the kip-up with a broken back during his epic encounter with Stone Cold during the 1998 Wrestlemania which had Mike Tyson as the guest referee.

#3 Moonsault

Shawn gave everything he had in his last ever match for the WWE. He reminded everyone why he is indeed Mr. Wrestlemania. It was a breathtaking sight to watch a 46 year old perform a perfectly executed moonsault, when he jumped on top of Taker on the announce table.

He also does the springboard moonsault and on one of the occasions it went totally wrong when he landed straight on the announce table after Ric Flair had moved.

#2 Diving elbow drop

Nobody has ever outperformed the Showstopper in a big match. No wrestling fan can forget the image of HBK diving from the top of a 20 foot ladder on to Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania 22. I wonder how many superstars can bring out a 5 star match while working with a 60 year old man.

The diving elbow drop is his primary signature move, and once he lands the elbow, he just goes wild and you know what’s coming your way next.

#1 Sweet Chin Music

No prizes for guessing! The Sweet Chin Music tops the list without a doubt. Everything about this move is so likeable. Starting from the build up where HBK gets ready to tune up the fans, to the impact of the move, it is an absolute joy to watch.

Sometimes, he also brings it out totally out of the blue, catching his opponent and the specatators off guard. His good old friend Triple H is probably the one who has been at the receiving end the most number of times.
