Updated list of potential Royal Rumble winners

Things may get better this time

The winner will take the grand prize at the Rumble?Things have become more intriguing ever since Vince Mcmahon announced that Roman Reigns will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against 29 other superstars at the royal Rumble event. This announcement has changed the very concept of the Royal Rumble. Previously, the winner of the match would get an opportunity to headline Wrestlemania and get an exclusive shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But this time around, the winner will get an even bigger prize – the title itself. With so much at stake, Roman Reigns may very well lose the title. Here we list the possible candidates to win the coveted title.

#1 Roman Reigns

Things may get better this time

The first possibility is the obvious one of the whole lot – Roman Reigns may very well retain the title. After all, he won it just a few weeks ago.

But the downside of his win this year will be the possible rejection of the fans just like last year.

It was in 2014 Royal Rumble match that Reigns was literally booed out of the building by the fans in attendance, when their beloved Daniel Bryan was eliminated. Not even an appearance by The Rock could save Reigns from the public angst.

A similar situation can present itself this year if enough intrigue is not built regarding the outcome. Vince Mcmahon and company will have to be careful in their booking of Reigns if they don’t want their champion to be booed again.

#2 Brock Lesnar

Can ‘The Beast’ do it again?

Add Brock Lesnar’s name to any event and things become a hell lot more exciting.

The main event of January 11 edition of RAW made it abundantly clear that Brock Lesnar is coming to Royal Rumble with only one goal in mind: to dismantle everything that stands between him and The WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Lesnar‘s path of annihilation saw him destroying everyone in sight and deliver a thunderous F5 to Reigns.

It will be Lesnar’s second appearance in the Royal Rumble match, first one being in 2003(which he subsequently won). His mere presence makes things more exciting and surely Royal Rumble will get the required boost, which it has been lacking in the past few years.

The attack on Reigns by Lesnar as seen on RAW may set the tables for a rematch from Wrestlemania 31.

#3 Bray Wyatt

The Eater of Worlds

Ever since their program with the ECW Originals wrapped up, The Wyatt Family finds itself stranded without any legitimate direction. Royal Rumble has provided them with a much-needed opportunity to prove to the world that they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Eater of Worlds has promised to wreck havoc in the Royal Rumble match and with the trio of Luke Harper, Erik Rowan and Braun Strowman on his side, he looks to be unstoppable.

Ever since debuting on the main roster, Bray Wyatt has not held any major championship. This may very well be his chance to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and legitimise himself as the top heel on the roster.

A win at the Royal Rumble may be able to overshadow the horrible booking he has been subjected to in the past year – which has also been rumored to happen.

#4 Triple H

14 time World Champion?

This one is a long shot, but this is something which cannot be ruled out entirely.

Given the fact that Triple H is not a full-time wrestler, it doesn’t make any sense to put the strap on him. But the brutal beat down he received at the hands of Roman Reigns at Survivor Series cannot be neglected.

Triple H has not made an appearance on TV since that attack and can very well become a surprise entrant. Not only that, he can defeat Reigns and become a 14 time World champion.

It is a perfect scenario where, after winning the title, Triple H can go on to defend it against Reigns in the main event of Wrestlemania. Reigns can then defeat Triple H and regain the title.

Beating a 14 time World champion in the main event of Wrestlemania will surely help in elevating the young career of Reigns and establish him as a legitimate main eventer. And we all know that when it comes to putting over young guys Triple h never shy away.
