Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers TNF

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play host to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Both teams have underperformed over the past few weeks, even in games they've won. The Bucs have now dropped two straight, most recently falling 21-3 to Carolina last week in a game where they were favored by 13. They're now 3-4 despite being considered Super Bowl contenders before the year started. The Ravens squeaked by the Browns in an ugly 23-20 win previously, and now Baltimore is up to 4-3.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Key Stats

Surprisingly, the Bucs have really struggled on offense this year. Their run game has been pretty much non-existent, as they're averaging a lousy three yards per carry through seven games. Running back Leonard Fournette has seen the vast majority of the Bucs' carries, but he's taken a step back from last season. Future Hall-of-Famer and 45-year old QB Tom Brady has a great touchdown to interception rate of eight to one, but overall his numbers have slightly declined. Overall, Tampa Bay has the weapons to torch opposing defenses in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but they've scored over 21 points as a team just once this year.

Baltimore's defense has forced eight turnovers in the past five games, and both the pass rush and secondary have been great thus far. Offensively, star QB Lamar Jackson had a quiet game against the Browns, but overall he's been very effective passing-wise and rushing-wise once again. Last week, Baltimore relied on Gus Edwards and Jackson to move the ball downfield with their legs, which proved to be just enough. Edwards missed all of last season and made his first appearance of this campaign last week, contributing big time to the Ravens' fourth win. When healthy, Edwards can be very tough to bring down, which could be a key factor tonight.

The Bucs' defense has been one of the best in the league, and a lot of that has to do with their pass rush. They average 3.1 sacks per game despite recording just one in last week's loss. Look for these defenses to take centerstage tonight in this inter-conference showdown.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Prediction

Both teams have been awful against the spread this year, especially the Bucs, who have failed to cover each of their last five games. The Bucs will look to bounce back here, but it won't be easy even if they are at home. They're also coming off two embarrassing losses against two weak opponents in games where the Bucs were big favorites. The Ravens' only weakness is their run defense, but that shouldn't be an issue as Tampa Bay ranks dead last in rushing yards. Back the visitors to win and cover here as they have the momentum and because the Bucs haven't covered a home game all year.

Prediction: Ravens +2 (-110)
