Best NBA Bets for Today: Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, and Portland Trail Blazers

Boston Celtics v Brooklyn Nets - Game Three
Brooklyn Nets stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving

The 2022-23 NBA season continues on Monday, December 12, with 14 teams in action. Take a look at three strong team bets for tonight's action, featuring the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Best NBA Team Bet #1: Brooklyn Nets -5.5 (-110)

The Brooklyn Nets have begun to resemble the team that they were expected to be entering the season. After starting the season 9-11, the Nets have won seven of their past eight games. Their opponent, the Washington Wizards, are trending in the opposite direction following a 10-7 start to the season. The Wizards have lost nine of their past ten games.

Furthermore, in the Nets' only other trip to Washington D.C. this season, they defeated the hometown team by 32 points without star point guard Kyrie Irving. With Irving back and playing great, look for the Nets to once again take advantage of a struggling Wizards team. Expect Brooklyn to win by at least six points.

Best NBA Team Bet #2: Boston Celtics -3.5 (-112)

The Boston Celtics have had the best record in the NBA thus far, as they are 21-6. Additionally, they have won eight of their past ten games. The Celtics have been led by an offense that leads the league in points per game and offensive rating.

While their defense hasn't quite been the same unit that led the league in opponents points per game and finished second in defensive rating en route to an NBA Finals appearance last season, they are still productive on that end. Boston currently ranks 13th in opponents points per game and 11th in defensive rating.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have not lived up to the expectations placed on them entering the season. The Clippers are 15-13 and in seventh place in the Western Conference, losing four of their past six games. While their defense has been great, ranking fourth in opponents points per game and sixth in defensive rating, their offense has arguably been the worst in the league, ranking just 30th in points per game and 28th in offensive rating.

More concerningly, Kawhi Leonard has not looked like the player he was prior to his injury. Leonard has averaged just 11.6 points per game while shooting 39.8% from the field and 17.2% from three-point range.

Look for the Celtics to take advantage of the Clippers' poor offense and win this contest by at least four points.

Best NBA Team Bet #3: Portland Trail Blazers -4 (-110)

The Portland Trail Blazers are currently 14-12 and ranked sixth in the Western Conference. The Trail Blazers have been a much different team with star point guard Damian Lillard in the lineup. In the 12 games that Lillard has started and finished, Portland is 9-3.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been underwhelming this season, as they are just 13-13 and in 11th place in the Western Conference. Additionally, these two teams met just two days prior and Portland was able to win 124-118. Look for Portland to once again emerge victorious, winning by at least five points.
