Best NBA Player Props for Tonight: Joel Embiid, LeBron James, & More

Charlotte Hornets v Philadelphia 76ers
NBA Preseason: Charlotte Hornets vs Philadelphia 76ers

After a long wait, the NBA season will tip off tonight (October 18) with the Boston Celtics facing the Philadelphia 76ers in Boston.

Following that game, defending champions Golden State Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers. There will be plenty of star power in these games, so the props are very attractive. If you want four solid player props for NBA Opening Night, you're in the right place.

NBA Player Prop #1: Joel Embiid over 10.5 Rebounds (-135)

Joel Embiid was right in the middle of the MVP race year, which was well deserved.

Embiid averaged 30.6 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. The Boston Celtics defense was very tough on centers last season, allowing 15.0 rebound per game to the big men. Embiid is just not your average center; as he can grab 15+ boards on a nightly basis when healthy. Take this, and watch it cash.

NBA Player Prop #2: LeBron James over 5.5 Assists (-135)

This is one of the most disrespectful lines on the entire slate. LeBron James is one of the greatest facilitators the NBA has ever seen, and this is the line they give us?

By the time this article is out, this line could very well already be at 6.5. It's still playable there too. Although he's listed as 'day-to-day' on the injury report, James will most definitely suit up against the Warriors.

James did see a decrease in his assist numbers last season, but that was likely the result of Anthony Davis' injuries. This line just seems too low to not take a chance at it. Take King James over 5.5 assists if you have that line available.

NBA Player Prop #3: James Harden over 8.5 Assists (-120)

James Harden has developed into a true facilitating-first point guard since his arrival in Philadelphia.

It's not hard to do when you have a talent like Joel Embiid playing alongside you. Harden averaged 10.3 assists per game last season, which was good for second in the league. Coming into this season, Harden is determined to play a key role in a potential championship team.

The maturity of Harden is something that has been very impressive, as you can tell he truly cares about winning. He took a nice-sized pay cut to build the absolute best team they could in Philadelphia, which speaks volumes about his aspirations. "The Beard" should be getting into the double digit assist range tonight, making this line very generous.
