Phoenix Suns vs Orlando Magic key stats

The Suns have one of the best records in the West after 11 games, winning eight. Only the Jazz and the Trail Blazers have a better record than the Suns in the West thus far. They come into this game on the back of a 129-117 win over the Timberwolves. It was a very efficient performance by the Phoenix side as they committed only 11 turnovers as compared to their opponents’ 19.

They shot the ball extremely well, completing nearly 46% of their attempted threes and a staggering 95% of their free throw attempts. They were heavily mismatched for size in that game, going up against the likes of Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns and it showed. They gave up 62 points in the paint compared to the 54 that they scored themselves. Mikal Bridges and Devin Booker stole the show for the Suns and took the side home.

Booker and Bridges scored 63 of the vistors’ 129 points in their win over the T’Wolves. Booker scored 32 on the night, in addition to his 10 assists in absence of floor general Chris Paul. He was incredibly efficient in that game, going 52% from the field, 71% from three, and 100% from the free-throw line.

It was his fifth 30+ point outing this season, in just 11 appearances. He has now scored 24+ points in all but two games this season, averaging 27.5 points per game thus far.

The Magic have had a very sluggish beginning to the season, but have somewhat become giant-killers of sorts. Out of their three wins this season, they have beaten the reigning champions Golden State and the high-flying Mavs side. They are coming into this game on the back of the said win against the Mavericks which ended 94-87.

The Magic were the first team in the NBA to stop the terrorizing run of form that Luka Doncic has been on, ending his nine-game streak of 30+ point outings. The Magic have still not looked very convincing considering their 3-9 record thus far, but the recent signs have been positive. After a severe lack of results at the start of the season, they have now won two of their last four encounters.

No. 1 overall pick, Paolo Banchero, has been sublime for the Magic this term. Before sustaining his ankle injury against the Rockets, he had scored 30 points in that game, his second successive 30+ point outing. He has scored 20+ points in all but two of his 11 appearances this season, establishing himself as the clear favorite for the Rookie of the Year title. Not only has he been one of the best Rookies in the league, but if he keeps his form up for the rest of the season and stays fit, he is a firm favorite for an All-Star call-up.

Phoenix Suns vs Orlando Magic Final Prediction:

Phoenix are a formidable outfit and have proven so this season. They have the joint-most wins of any team after 11 games played. They have been on an alternating run of form lately, but look certain to win this affair.

The Magic have not had the best of campaigns thus far, but have looked better recently. They are still at a massive disadvantage considering their star Banchero's availability is still uncertain for this game. The away side should win this one.

Phoenix Suns: -5.5 (-112)
