Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Prediction

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be home, playing the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The Bucs are down to 3-5 now following their third straight defeat. Tampa Bay lost 27-22 to the Ravens last week, and now they'll remain home to host the 3-4 Rams. Both teams had Super Bowl aspirations coming into the year, but now they'll need to turn their seasons around as we've passed the halfway point in the NFL season.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Key Stats

Both offenses have underperformed, but looking at the Rams, they've been held to 14 points or fewer in three of the past four games. Rams QB Matthew Stafford excelled last year, his first year in LA after spending 12 years in Detroit, but this year Stafford has taken a step back. He's thrown more picks (8) than TDs (7), and he's averaging just 6.8 yards per attempt, way lower than the 8.1 mark he ended with last season. Running back Darrell Henderson Jr. was also a lot better last year, and his recent production has been insignificant. The Rams still lean on Stafford heavily and wideout Cooper Kupp, who has five TDs and 686 yards. The run game for LA is not usually reliable, but Tampa Bay has one of the best pass defenses in the league, so the Rams might need to switch up their gameplan this afternoon.

Tampa Bay has struggled on offense, and QB Tom Brady hasn't been as dominant as he has been over his career. Of course, Brady is 45 and in his 23rd year, and his offensive weapons haven't really stepped up either. Leonard Fournette is down at 3.4 yards per game, and talented receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have been inconsistent. The Rams' run defense has been one of the best in the NFL, but they have shown to be vulnerable when it comes to big plays through the air. When the Rams' defense steps up, they're tough to beat, but their inconsistency makes it difficult to trust them.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Prediction

These teams last met in the NFC Divisional Round back in January, where the Rams came out on top 30-27 en route to their Super Bowl victory. Both teams don't look nearly as good as they did ten months ago, but they still have very talented rosters.

The Bucs haven't covered a game since Week 2, and both teams have covered just two games total this season. It's difficult to trust either team here, but the home-field advantage gives Tampa Bay the edge. Back Brady and the Bucs to win and cover here to get back on track.

Prediction: Buccaneers -2.5 (-110)

Score Prediction: Buccaneers 24 - 19 over the Rams
