ATP Challenger - Bhambri goes down in three sets

Indian teenager Yuki Bhambri went down fighting to third seed Tatsuma Ito in the quarter finals of the ATP Challenger event in Kyoto, Japan on Friday.

Bhambri lost the first set in a tiebreak before bouncing back to win the second, also in a tie break. However, the Japanese player’s experience showed and he won the final set 6-3.

Ito is ranked 105 in the world compared to Bhambri’s 280. The result this week earns Bhambri 15 ATP ranking points which will move him to a new career high inside the top 265 in the world.

Ito will play Hiroko Moriya in an all Japanese semi final while Sam Groth will take on Malek Jaziri in the other semi finals
