ATP Miamim - Gonzalez ends career with first round loss as other veterans advance

Former world no. 3 Nikolay Davydenko ended a jinx against James Blake, beating the American for the first time in their eighth career meeting.

Davydenko needed three sets to advance to the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Also winning on Wednesday were former world no. 2 Tommy Haas, former Wimbledon semi-finalist Xavier Malisse, former Australian Open finalist Arnaud Clement and former world no. 3 David Nalbandian as well as young Bulgarian Grigor Dimitro.

However, Former world no. 5 Fernando Gonzalez was beaten in his final match before retiring. The Chilean went down in a third set tie break to Frenchman Nicolas Mahut.
