The Australian Open 2019 quarterfinals will commence tomorrow, with the bottom half playing their matches tomorrow in the men's and women's singles categories.
Local favourite Ashleigh Barty will take on Petra Kvitova in the first match of the night session on Rod Laver Arena.
Ashleigh Barty became the first Australian woman since 2009 to reach the Australian Open quarterfinals. She has been in great form since the beginning of the year and has produced some scintillating performances on the court.
The Australian began her 2019 campaign against Luksika Kumkhum and then followed that up with a 2nd round win against Wang Yafan. In the third round, she defeated Greece's Maria Sakkari in straight sets before following that up with her biggest win of the tournament so far, against Maria Sharapova, in three sets.
Kvitova, on the other hand, has strolled through the draw so far, winning all her matches in straight sets. She has dropped only 17 games so far and has looked extremely dominating on court. Belinda Bencic and Amanda Anisimova are two of the four opponents she defeated in the four rounds.
Kvitova and Barty have played each other thrice, with Kvitova winning all three matches, including the final at Sydney prior to the Australian Open this year.
