The 2024 Tennis in the Land will see top seed Beatriz Haddad Maia battle against American wildcard McCartney Kessler for the title. Before this event, the Brazilian's form was not particularly impressive, as she did not have much to show for apart from a quarterfinal run at the Madrid Open and a semifinal run in Abu Dhabi.

At the Tennis in the Land event, the top seed opened her campaign with a straight-set win over Swiss Qualifier Viktorija Golubic in the first round before securing a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cristina Bucsa to reach the quarterfinals.

However, the American advanced to her maiden WTA final at the Tennis in the Land in Cleveland. Kessler beat compatriot Katerina Scot 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in the first round before coming back from a set down to defeat fourth seed Wang Xinyu 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 and reach the quarterfinals.

Here, Kessler secured her first straight-set win of the tournament, beating t Arantxa Rus 6-4, 6-2. The American player then recovered from being a set down to defeat fifth-seed Anastasia Potapova 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to qualify for her maiden WTA final.
