On that note, let's take a look at the predictions of the women's singles matches that will take place on Day 4 of the Copa Colsanitas 2023.

#1. Sara Sorribes Tormo vs Emiliana Arango

Seventh seed Sara Sorribes Tormo will take on Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas 2023. It will be the very first meeting between the two.

Sorribes Tormo booked her place in the second round with a comprehensive 6-0, 6-4 win over compatriot Aliona Bolsova while Arango qualified for the Round of 16 after her opening-round opponent Harmony Tan was forced to retire due to an injury.

Neither player has been too active on the WTA tour this season, with the Spaniard currently playing in her first tournament after a six-month injury layoff while the Colombian mostly competed on the ITF circuit.

Sorribes Tormo put in a dominant display in her first-round match and will be heavily favored to defeat Arango.

Predicted Winner: Sara Sorribes Tormo.

#2. Mirjam Bjorklund vs Tamara Zidansek

Mirjam Bjorklund will face 2021 French Open semifinalist Tamara Zidansek in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas 2023. It will be the first meeting between the two in the main draw of a WTA tournament.

They recently met in the Miami Open qualifiers, with Bjorklund winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

The Swede booked her place in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas by shocking top seed Elise Mertens 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(3) in the opening round. Zidansek produced a dominant performance to thrash Reka Luca Jani 6-0, 6-1 and seal her spot in the Round of 16 in Bogota.

Bjorklund has won four out of seven matches this season while Zidansek has triumphed in three out of seven.

The Slovenian was lethal in her last match and is more than capable of giving Bjorklund a run for her money. However, the Swede's recent form has been slightly better and that might be enough to see her through to the quarterfinals of the Copa Colsanitas 2023.

Predicted Winner: Mirjam Bjorklund.

#3. Peyton Stearns vs Elina Avanesyan

Peyton Stearns will face Elina Avanesyan in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas 2023. It will be the very first meeting between the two.

Stearns booked her place in the Round of 16 in Bogota by beating Spanish qualifier Rosa Vicens Mas 6-3, 6-1 while Avanesyan thrashed former top-5 player Sara Errani 6-1, 6-0. This was her first main-draw victory of the 2023 season.

The American started the season on the ITF circuit but has made frequent appearances on the WTA tour, most notably reaching the quarterfinals of the ATX Open. The same can be said for Avanesyan except that she has won just one main-draw fixture so far.

Stearns will enter the match as the favorite to win and should be able to beat Avanesyan without much trouble.

Predicted Winner: Peyton Stearns.

#4. Sinja Kraus vs Nuria Brancaccio

Austrian qualifier Sinja Kraus will face Italian qualifier Nuria Brancaccio in the second round of the Cop Colsanitas 2023. it will be the very first meeting between the two.

World No. 168 Kraus booked her place in the Round of 16 with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over eighth seed Nadia Podoroska, while World No. 206 Brancaccio beat Despina Papamichail 6-2, 6-2.

Both players have mostly competed on the ITF circuit this season, but Kraus will enter the match as the favorite to win given her higher ranking and the fact that she will be high on confidence after beating a seeded player in the opening round.

The Austrian will most likely prevail over the Italian to reach her maiden WTA quarterfinal.

Predicted Winner: Sinja Kraus.
