The Dark Horses : Who can upset Serena Williams at the US Open 2015?

Bolt out of the Blue

Eugenie Bouchard

Bouchard has finally arrested her downward spiral by reaching the Third Round of the US Open 2015

A new working partnership with the legendary Jimmy Connors seems to have arrested Eugenie Bouchard’s downward spiral, at least for now. Bouchard, who has not had two consecutive match wins since early this year, made her way to the Third Round of the US Open 2015. After a series of dismal performances and changing coaches at the drop of a hat, Bouchard is showing glimpses of her old self that propelled her to dizzying success in 2014. Bouchard, a Wimbledon Finalist in 2014, has to really pull something very special out of her hat if she is to have a go at her maiden Grand Slam title.

Daria Kasatkina

Daria Kasatkina entered the US Open Main Draw for the very first time in her career. With Maria Sharapova pulling out of the US Open with less than 24 hours for Day 1 to roll, Kasatkina was given her place in the Draw as a lucky loser. A diehard fan of Rafael Nadal, Kasatkina made the most of her luck as she has now reached the Third Round of the US Open. Slated to play the big hitting Kristina Mladenovic in the next Round Daria Kasatkina says she has been swinging freely and has not piled any pressure on herself. A player who feels no pressure and has a lot of variety in her game is the one to watch out for.

These two players could make the ongoing US Open more sensational than ever. Though the choice of these two players may seem ambitious, almost bordering on ridiculous, it highlights the sheer unpredictability of the Women’s game with Serena Williams being the only constant
