Devvarman in 2nd round of Aegon Nottingham Challenge

2013 Sony Open Tennis - Day 7

India’s Somdev Devvarman continued his good form this season to proceed to the 2nd round of the Aegon Nottingham Challenge. Somdev beat Brit qualifier Brydan Klein in straight sets 7-6(2) 6-4.

Somdev, playing the grass court challenger tournament as a warm up for Wimbledon, prevailed over world number 253 Klein and moved onto the next round in just under 2 hours. In the second round, Devvarman will have a tough match against American 5th seed and world number 102 Jack Sock.

Devvarman has had a good run of form in the last couple of weeks during which he reached the 2nd round in Paris and the semis of the challenger event in Caltanisetta. This helped him jump 48 places in the latest ATP rankings to world number 140.
