The young Indian pair of Divij Sharan and Purav Raja lost in the finals of the $125K Tashkent Challenger tournament in Uzbekistan.

The Indian pair, who were seeded 2nd in the tournament, lost to the unseeded Russian pair of Mikhail Elgin and Teymuraz Gabashivali 4-6 4-6 in the finals.

The duo, who defeated the strong Israeli pair of Dudi Sela and Amir Weintraub 5-7 6-3 13-11 in the Semifinals were not looking in the best of the forms in this match as the Russian pair broke their serve in the sixth game of the first set to take the lead by 4-2. This break of serve proved crucial in the end as the Russian pair hold their next two serves comfortably to clinch the first set 6-4.

Indian pair’s start to the second set was also not good as the Russian pair again breached the Indian pair’s serve in the first game of the set. After this both the teams were able to hold their serves but that initial service break proved vital in the end as the unseeded Russian pair comfortably won the second set and hence the match.

The Indian pair, who won their first ever ATP tour level title in July after defeating the strong pair of Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Igor Sijsling in the summit clash of the Claro Open are surely the future of Indian Tennis and a lot can be expected from these two young rising stars.
