On this day, in 2009, Roger Federer won his sixth Wimbledon final, and a record fifteenth career Grad Slam title.
Having been beaten to the title by Rafael Nadal the previous year, in a match of epic proportions, Federer overcame Andy Roddick in an equally enthralling five-setter. The final set was the longest fifth set in Wimbledon history, with Roddick pushing Federer to the limits. Federer, however, survived the challenge to lift the trophy, and became the first man to have ever won fifteen Grand Slams.
This year, at Wimbledon, in a matter of days, we may see him lift his seventeenth.
