India's Mahesh Bhupathi and his doubles partner Australia's Nick Kyrgios were knocked out of the French Open after suffering a straight set defeat in the first round of the men's doubles match here on Monday.

Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis and France's Lucas Pouille beat the Indo-Australian pair 6-3, 6-1 to enter the second round.

Bhupathi-Kyrgios never looked in control of the game as the pair faced an early exit from the tournament.

The Indo-Australian duo failed to convert a single break point out of the nine opportunities they had. On the other hand, their opponents took advantage of four such situations out of the seven chances they got to break serve.

The other Indians in the fray will take the court tomorrow. Leander Paes, teaming up with Canadian Daniel Nestor, will face Australians James Duckworth and Chris Guccione. Youngster Rohan Bopanna and teammate Florin Mergea will take on the Serbian pair of Viktor Troicki and Filip Krajinovic.

Also in action tomorrow will be top ranked women’s doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis, who will take on Julia Goerges and Barbora Krejcikova from Germany and the Czech Republic, respectively.
