Garbine Muguruza shakes hand with Agnieszka Radwanska after her win on Thursday

Garbine Muguruza of Spain sealed a spot in her maiden Wimbledon final after beating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-2 3-6 6-3 in the semifinals at Centre Court on Thursday.

The opening set saw Muguraza break her Polish opponent early and then build on that, going 4-1 up. Although she committed a higher number of unforced errors as compared to Radwanska, she managed to hold on to that advantage and take the opening set 6-2.

The second set followed a similar tale as Muguruza continued to maintain pressure on her Polish opponent by taking an early 3-1 lead. But Radwanska made a fine comeback into the contest, winning the next five games straight to take the second set 6-3 and bring the match back on level terms.

In the third and final set, Radwanska broke her opponent in the first game before Muguruza, first won two games straight to go 2-1 up and then further built on that lead to go 3-2 up.

The Spaniard then took the first big step towards reaching her first Wimbledon final, breaking Radwanska in the sixth game to go 4-2 up and then winning the next game to go 5-2 up. Although Radwanska tried to stretch the match, Muguruza eventually sealed the set 6-3 and booked a place in the Wimbledon final for the first time.
