Caroline Dolehide vs Martina Trevisan preview
Eighth-seeded Caroline Dolehide will face off against Martina Trevisan of Italy in the first round of the 2024 Guadalajara Open. Dolehide is the defending runner-up at the event as he reached the finals last year, losing to Maria Sakkari. The American was last seen in action at the US Open the year, where she knocked out 11th-seeded Danielle Collins in the first round, before losing to Sara Errani in the second round.
Dolehide has not been in a great run of form in 2024 and has not put together decent runs in most of the events she has played in. However, she reached the quarter-finals of the Rothesay Classic, losing to Yulia Putintsave, and reached the semi-final of the Citi Open, losing to eventual champion Paula Badosa.
Martina Trevisan's form in 2024 has not been encouraging. The Italian has not won many matches on the main tour, and a majority of her victories have come on the ITF Tour and the WTA 125 events. She last played at the US Open, losing to Taylor Townsend in the first round.
One of Trevisan's finest performances came at the Nordea Open, a part of the WTA 125 series. The Italian won the title by defeating Ann Li of the USA in the final. During her title run, she defeated a top 60 player Diane Parry who was ranked 53 at that time.

Caroline Dolehide vs Martina Trevisan prediction
Caroline Dolehide is yet to win a singles title on the WTA Tour. The final of the Guadalajara Open last year remains the only WTA final that the American player has reached. However, she has been in good form in doubles, as she won the Canadian Open with her compatriot Desirae Krawczyk recently.
Martina Trevisan is a former Top 20 player who has a 42 percent win record on hard courts in her career. She has not won any title on the surface yet. Her biggest success has come on clay, as she won the Rabat Grand Prix back in 2022, and reached the semi-final of the 2022 French Open, losing to Coco Gauff.
The American will be the favorite to win the match due to her current hard-court form and a positive head-to-head.
