What's the story?

The top-seeded Indian duo of Arjun Kadhe and Lakshit Sood have won the men's doubles China F3 title at Anning, Yunnan, China. The tournament played on the clay surface is part of the events played in the Future series organised by International Tennis Federation.

In case you didn't know...

Kadhe and Sood were the top-seeded players in the tournament but they are ranked 606 and 530 respectively. Kadhe has one ITF singles and two doubles titles to his name already while Sood has won seven doubles titles before this. The tournament is being played at the Hot Spring District in Anning.

The heart of the matter

The Indian pair of Kadhe and Sood defeated the Serbian-French pair of Goran Markovic and Florent Diep. They were seeded third in the tournament and were defeated in straight sets. Kadhe and Sood won the first set comfortably with a score of 6-3 while the second set was a hard fought one with a score of 7-6.

The F1 Future and F2 Future series of China have also been held at Anning this year. The prize money for all the tournaments of the future series is $15,000. The duo defeated Hsiang Chiu and Yuanfeng Li in the first round and then beat the other Indian pair of Nitin Kumar Sinha and Manish Sureshkumar in the quarterfinals. This was followed by a victory over Tyler Lu and Issei Okamura in the semifinals. Interestingly, all the victories have been in straight sets which shows how Kadhe and Sood were dominant throughout the tournament.

What's next?

Both the players will be looking forward to winning more Future series titles in the season. Lakshit has also won titles with his twin brother Chandril Sood and will be partnering him in some of the upcoming tournaments as well.

Author's take

The F3 tournament is not a very hard fought one but the way the duo has achieved each victory in straight sets speaks volumes about the talent the two players possess.
